landlady1952 Posted February 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2016 So I have read so many negative comments about this port and embarkation and debarkation being a nightmare. Can someone explain the procedure or problems with getting on ship at this port ? We are sailing out of there in April. Better to go early or later in day to board? I have an arthritic hip and cannot stand for very long. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA
vwrestler171 Posted February 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2016 If you get there early, you can usually get a spot to sit, but unless you are there way early, I would show up in the 1:30-2:30 time frame. In my 3 cruises from Long Beach, we have never started boarding before noon. The majority of check in and waiting is done outside and there are very few spots to sit. After the first initial rush of boarding, they will sometimes open the dome and allow the late check ins into the dome.
Cruisin' Chick Posted February 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Have you considered contacting Carnival and ask for assistance (a wheelchair or special boarding)?
Rosefloater Posted February 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Definitely call for assistance. They will wheel you up the gangway to the ship. There is a lot of seating outside around the planters. If you don't want to wait, arrive after 2.
