Ex techie Posted February 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) Just curious if there is a corking fee if you have your own opener?! The corkage fee is just a name, and not the act of removing the cork. It is to compensate the cruise line or restaurant for you bringing your own wine aboard and drinking it in place of buying their wine and them providing the glasses and serving it. On DCL you are able to bring aboard 2 bottles of wine (750ml each) or two bottles of Champagne (750ml each) or 6 beers (12oz each) per Guest over 21 at the beginning of your voyage and then again at every port stop that sells the above on their island. But these must ONLY be consumed in your private Stateroom and NOT in public areas of the ship such as the restaurants. No corkage fee is charged or applied. You can ask a Stateroom Host for glasses and wine bottle opener if you did not bring one so you can enjoy them in your Stateroom or verandah. However, you may bring a bottle or 2 bottles of wine or Champagne to the MDR's or Palo or Remy (Remy if your ship has that restaurant) and pay the corkage fee to consume it there instead of buying from their wine selection.
