CruiserTB Posted March 1, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted March 1, 2016 I was considering doing the same thing! I was looking at the al a carte options for the reception, and thought it would technically be a similar in costs. We want an open bar as well. The preference is for a ceremony the 2nd day of sailing. Sorry if I missed it but, how many are you planning for? We are looking at about 60 to sail with us and attend the ceremony and reception. We're estimating between 70-100 guests sailing with us. We're doing an embarkation day wedding.
CruiserTB Posted March 1, 2016 Author #27 Share Posted March 1, 2016 So far they aren't communicating to us on the March 4th sailing. :( Hoping no news is good news. I was married on the Oasis, if anyone has questions for RCCL weddings in general :-) I'll be attending Mona's on the Summit in May :-) Nice, I definitely want a wedding recap.:D

ariawoman Posted March 2, 2016 #29 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Sorry if I worried your friend needlessly. It's on the Roll call thread for this weekend's cruise. They're speculating due to the storm and the waves at the sea and someone is looking at the weather models. I'm proceeding as if nothing's changed and we're going to cruise as normal. :D I'm the friend. I'm not worried LOL. :-)
ariawoman Posted March 2, 2016 #30 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Tell me everything you can/will!!! I am super excited and again just waiting on the dates to be released, which I hope is this week. I have never been on a cruise before but we thought it would be a good non-traditional way to have fun with our friends and family in attendance for our wedding. Do you have pics? Did you host a reception? If you looking for caribbean sail dates they are opening up on 3/7 lol I do have pics but they are mostly on my facebook page since this page doesn't have storage. I can't post my email because I've been wrist slapped for that in the past (even though i posted it to try to get others to send me photos they might have taken of us on my wedding day around the ship...cuz you know i was likely in some that i dont know about lol). Sigh. I had a reception in Dazzles, which was a nice room for a reception. Not great for eating since it's basically coffee table type eating from soft chairs but...personally, i didnt' eat anyway LOL. It was pretty short, as it was embarkation day, and non-sailing had to skat. Reception was 2 hours, i did hire a dj (though quite honestly you could play music over a PA and spend less and get the same...the dj didn't really speak ever). I did the extra hour of photos after the ceremony and went around the ship and took various with just me and the groom. Took several in the reception with the bridesmaids/family/friends. I don't regret a single thing. Mine was very small...i believe 13 sailing guests and about as many non-sailing. We didn't sail out of a home port for most so, it was only really targeted to people who were already taking a group cruise with Mona and me. Any questions - ask away. I'll do my best to pop over here and look (or mona can remind me lol)
CruiserTB Posted March 2, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I'm the friend. I'm not worried LOL. :-) Are you on the roll call? We have some nice activities planned including a cabin crawl which I like so I can see the different cabin types. :D

Charsettb Posted March 4, 2016 #34 Share Posted March 4, 2016 I'm going on a weekend cruise on Anthem of the Seas on March 4 and was informed there will be a wedding in Two70 on Saturday. I'm going to try and peak in to see how they set it up. Since there's hardly any information out there about this ship and particularly weddings on this ship, I thought I'd use this opportunity. :D If anyone has anything they want me to scope out for them while I'm there just let me know. I hope you enjoy your trip this weekend! Can you try and get a picture of the chapel as well? I believe the have one. Thanks!
CruiserTB Posted March 8, 2016 Author #35 Share Posted March 8, 2016 Hey we had a great time! It was so nice and although there were a couple of missteps nothing that would deter us and my FH was like he doesn't need to try out celebrity and wants to book Royal for our wedding. :D Now we're just waiting for the dates to be released. Sorry I didn't see a chapel, I did look at Two70 which is where our wedding would be held and it was beautiful. I also saw a couple getting married on North Star which logistically wouldn't work for us but looked nice. I took so many pictures, I'll post in a few. My TA said the dates should be out this week...I almost can't contain myself. Sorry work was crazy yesterday. Will post pics today. I need to find a TA. I heard on the main cruise critic Royal board that they pushed the release date out to April. I'm hoping that's not true though and I'll be able to book soon. CruiserTB Posted March 9, 2016 Author #38 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Here are some pics of Two70 which based on the number of guests we expect (75-100) will be where our wedding will take place. There's a nice sized dance floor and an upper level with dj booth.

I look forward to the pictures. Geez , let's hope the release dates aren't pushed back, I am ready to get this moving!:D Did you have an opportunity to check out any of the specialty restaurants while you were on-board? I have been toying with the idea of buyout of Wonderland although I have not told my FH (he is all about giving opinions and not doing any research). Our numbers keep growing and I want to arrange something really special for those who choose to attend. I have never cruised before so don't have the experience. I have been looking at the shorter trips so that I can potentially experience it prior as you and your FH did. I will definiately be using the boards for inspiration. Yes we ate at Chops which is the restaurant we will buyout. It was great. I was toying with Wonderland but decided to play it safe with Chops. Wonderland is more adventurous which I like because I'm an adventurous eater and FH is a trained chef so he likes it as well but when we thought about the variety of guests we will be having we decided to go with what I know would be pleasing for the majority of our guests. And I must say the food at Chops was excellent.:D
CruiserTB Posted March 9, 2016 Author #43 Share Posted March 9, 2016 How was the seating, are you having a "meal" reception at Two70? The seating was huge. I was actually concerned it would be too big but FH came up with a good plan that if guests stick to the lower level it will be fine. It's connected to CafeTwo70 in the back so there's plenty of tables and places to eat. I wish the wedding scheduled there would have gone on so I could have seen how it looked all set up but alas either I missed it or it didn't happen as the girl who told me about it said the couple was nervous about the bad reviews on Anthem as of late and may have cancelled. I know I peeked in Two70 multiples times on Saturday and didn't see anything. My pictures do not do it justice.
ariawoman Posted March 9, 2016 #44 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I took a photo (phone camera) of the little room they had set up to have a ceremony on Saturday on the side of 270. Hopefully, you can see it..
ariawoman Posted March 9, 2016 #45 Share Posted March 9, 2016 The party from this particular wedding seemingly hired out Boleros as I saw them in there for a few hours post the wedding on saturday. No photos though, I was just running down to Sorrentos to get a slice and fill my soda cup LOL
