TheCruisingQueen Posted February 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2016 I have recently decided to embark on a different kind of journey, and am going to take a segment of Cunard's 2017 world cruises. I have narrowed it down to 2 options, in which I cannot decide. The 1st, on Queen Victoria has this beautiful itinerary: Valparaiso, Easter Island, Pitcairn, Papeete, Bora Bora, X Intl Dateline, Nuku'Alofa, Auckland, Bay Of Islands, Sydney, Sydney None of those places listed above have I ever been. The 2nd option is also a very beautiful itinerary, on the Queen Elizabeth: San Francisco, Honolulu, Lahaina, X Intl Dateline, Apia, Nuku'Alofa, Auckland, Bay Of Islands, Sydney, Sydney Only the first 3 ports I have been to. Both are similar in pricing, which leads me to ask for your help. In regards to ship and which itinerary is best, and all other comparisons, please help me in deciding which is best suited. This will also be my first on a Cunard ship. busmech Posted February 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2016 QV does not stop at Easter or Pitcairn Islands. Both ships are very close to being exact sisters, decor is the big difference. Some other differences but either one is very nice. Did the Sydney to SF segment a couple of years ago and had a great time. although we missed Bay of Islands due to a approaching Cyclone. Just have fun and enjoy
Rare Scrapnana Posted February 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2016 Not sure you could go wrong with either itinerary. As mentioned, there is not much difference between QE and QV. With everything else being equal, I personally would probably pick the cruise that has the most "new to me" ports.
Tranquility Base Posted February 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2016 Does Cunard not anchor off Pitcairn and have the locals come onto the ship to sell their goods and talk about life on the island ?
jo-b Posted February 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2016 We did the whole World cruise on QV last year. The most common question the people who did the whole thing were asked was which port was your favourite. Until we got to Bora Bora everyone said, can't really say everywhere is different. After Bora Bora almost every single person we knew said that that had been the best day of the whole cruise. So for that alone I would go with that itinerary!
