Micahs Grandad Posted March 4, 2016 #101 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Seriously? Five pages of people ranting over an 8c increase per bottle of water? Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app To me there is a principal involved. I am a numbers guy and a 33% increase is a big deal.
MCFTJCH2V Posted March 4, 2016 #102 Share Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) Carnival, alone, sails between 3 and 4 million passengers a year, accounting for about 20% of the cruising market. So that means cruising accounts for about 17 million passengers a year (and I expect that number is actually pretty low). No one can convince me that even 1% if those actually post on cruising websites...but let me know if you have actual numbers, I'd be interested. You can contact that experiment yourself. The next ten people you pass, ask each if they have a social media account. Then ask them if the have a CC account. cruiselovin'momma Posted March 4, 2016 #103 Share Posted March 4, 2016 I was going to buy a case yesterday, but the cheers program still had the old description so I waited. Noticed the price change today when I did purchase it. Still a good deal at 4 bucks for it to be waiting in the room when we board. One 12 pack of water and the cheers program should be all that we need. The Cheers program includes bottled water now. Why did you buy a pack of water also. Not that the extra $4 is a big deal...just curious.
Retired_to_Cruise Posted March 4, 2016 #104 Share Posted March 4, 2016 I wonder how many people who order cheers do not get their money's worth? At least by adding the extra's more will have the opportunity to break even. I would think the profit would be less for Carnival if more people bought Cheers. Under the "old" Cheers program, the break even point was 6 alcoholic drinks a day. Plus it included some of the "other" things as well. Only a really stupid person would buy it without understanding that. Under the "new" Cheers program, the break even point can be 1 drink a day if you order even one drink that costs $50.00 dollars. However, the number is still lower than 6 if you order all your drinks with top shelf alcohol. By adding the "new" stuff to the Cheers program, more people should be able to purchase Cheers even though they do not drink alcohol because all of these options together can make it worthwhile. This is aimed at people who do not buy it because the other person over 21 in their cabin does not drink alcohol. Now they can justify both people buying it and not lose money. All you have to do to make up you mind is sit down and work the numbers.

erinmarie424 Posted March 4, 2016 #107 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Aren't we all? Yep. Just wanted to point out to the poster that I quoted that just because JH has 120000 followers that we don't all agree with her statement that he's perfect for the job. I'm a numbers gal and $1 is less than .001 of what I will spend on the cruise and getting there. Not a big deal to me.
cruzeluver Posted March 4, 2016 #109 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Still a reasonable cost, and to have it waiting for me in my room makes it too convenient. If the price goes to a level I am no longer comfortable I won't buy it anymore and will just drink the ship's water from a refillable mug.
pmms052999 Posted March 4, 2016 #110 Share Posted March 4, 2016 We were on the Glory sailing Feb 20. I ordered my usual long Island Tea in the casino. When it came I was shocked. It used to be served in a tumbler that would hold approx. 16 oz. It is now served in a skinny glass that holds about 12 oz. and it cost $1.00 more than it did last year in Jan on our cruise. Last year they were $9.00 ish? with tip. This year it was $10.00 ish? with tip. Less drink but more money....NOT GOOD I paid 2.99 for the water but at 3.99 it would still be worth it to not have to lug it around. We were on the Valor in January 2012 and the Long Island Iced Tea was $10.06 (tip included). I remember this distinctly because it's all my husband and I drank so we could get the match play in the casino. We were just on the Breeze this past January (2016), and it was the exact same price and served in the exact same glass.
simplelife Posted March 5, 2016 #111 Share Posted March 5, 2016 Nope, it's $3.99 in advance (I checked because I have been planning to order it for my next cruise!) :( Thanks for the correction. Good to know
