Yarin3000 Posted March 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Our group was recently on the Independence of the Seas, which stopped in Belize City on 2/29. We had booked a non-RC excursion through Shore Excursioneer. I learned from the Cruise Critic forums that Shore Excursioneer sub-contracts to local companies for the excursions, so I really didn't know what to expect. When we got to the meeting point for non-RC excursions, we were met by Gavin (I wish I could remember his last name) from Belize Jungle Trek, our private tour guide for the day. We was very knowledgeable and friendly and made our day the absolute best. The zip-lining crew was awesome. It was our first time zip-lining and they put us at ease quickly, and were friendly and easy to talk to. When it came time for cave tours, I was SO glad that our tour included RAFTS, not tubes. The rafts were blown up for us at the start of the cave tour, so we didn't have to carry them on the 30 minute (approx.) walk to the cave tour starting point. We saw lots of people who had to carry their own TUBES the whole way (not that they were super heavy, but it made for a much more pleasant walk through the jungle). Also, when it came time to get into the water, as rafters, we had control over our own movement, with our own paddles. The tube groups were tied together and were being pulled as one big mass by their tour guide. Our raft group was able to follow Gavin as he gave us a tour of the caves. A+ for Gavin and everyone we encountered in Belize!
