Price reduction question

I called Carnival to get a price reduction on my cruise. Which they gladly adjusted for me. But, to my surprise, it was waayyy more than I was figuring. I have no clue how he got to that pricing, as that is not what I was seeing. LOL

I went to make a mock booking and that price is much higher than the one I have. My question is....

In the future, is there anyway/place to go to and see if I could still get my price adjusted? If the website booking is showing a higher price than mine now, am I to assume I am probably at the lowest price I will get to? If I see the mock pricing has gone down, do you think I should still go ahead and call Carnival and see if there is a change in mine?

Check the carnival fare view@ carnival.com/BookingEngine/FareViewer

If you are booked in early saver then you can get any rate you would have qualified. (i.e. you can't get an senior rate if you are not a senior, but you can get the past guest if you have sailed Carnival before.)

I go there too and that is the price I was thinking I was going to get the reduction to, but it ended up being more. So Im confused how he took more off than what I was seeing.

Fareviewer does not show all of the fares you are eligible for such as military, casino rate, interline, etc.

You need to sign into Carnival and do a mock booking. That will show you the fares that you can receive.

I checked both ways and our cruise has actually gone up $170.00 (that would be $85 each) since we booked it and we have a $50 OBC over and above that. I would love to get a fare reduction but at least we know that it was worth it to book so far in advance

On the most recent price protection form that I sent in, they approved the reduced fare, but, we got a bigger reduction than what I had found. I called my PVP to ask how this had happened (not that I was complaining!). She explained that when they checked the vifp numbers, one of the people booked in one of the cabins had a special sale associated with his vifp so that was why that cabin got a bigger reduction than we had anticipated plus $100 obc.

The targeted promotions for all VIFP members are checked to offer the lowest price available. Also keep in mind that all price matching in the future will be done online, carnival.com/earlysaver, as agents now will not be able to price match once final payment has been made. They are still in the process of rolling this out.

The same thing happened to me recently. I submitted the form because I saw a price that was $20/person less than what we had paid. The form was approved minutes later for $60/person less. I'm not complaining, but I don't know where that figure came from! I'm very thorough with my research and check all possibilities (VIFP specials, sales, etc.). Again, not complaining, just wondering what's going on.
