One thing I didn't mention and have seen questions about on other threads is the tendering at George Town Grand Cayman.

 

We were in no hurry to get off since we had no excursion planned but about 10:00 we went down , climbed right on the the tender and took the very short ride into town.

 

The tender boats there are big, like 300 passenger capacity big. We also had no trouble at all getting back to the ship although we did come back earlier than the last tender.

 

In my very limited ( this was first and only !) experience I would say don't worry too much about tendering !

I was looking through my pictures and saw this one.

I made it larger to see if I could figure out the name

on it and between this picture and another one we believe this is the Tatoosh.

 

It is owned by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and owner of the Seattle Seahawks and other pro sports teams.

 

It was around Ocho Rios when we took this picture.

 

If you blow it up a bit you can see a boat, a car and a helicopter onboard.

 

I think me and Mr. Allen take different kind of cruises !

THE SPA: My wife loves to go to the Spa, especially on Sea Days. She booked a massage the day we got on the ship. She loved it, it relaxes her and allows her to really enjoy the trip. BUT this time the lady who worked on her might have made a big mistake. After her great, long , wonderful massage the lady pushed, really pushed, like to the point of not taking NO for an answer when trying to sell the products they use. My wife said she politely told her no, no thank you as many times as she could before telling her NO in a not so polite manner. My wife actually says she is considering NOT getting any more massages because it took away from her relaxation having to fight off the pushy sales lady. They need to realize that she can also lose that money in the Casino just as easily !

 

I found the trick to stop the upselling is to write "NO PRODUCT UPSELLING" on the form they make you fill out before you go back for your massage. Works every time. This last time was the first time they tried to upsell me on coming back for 2 more treatments, and they pushed it heavily. Next time I will write that on my paper as well.

There's nothing relaxing about a pushy massage therapist.

On our cruise, it was offered Day 5 and we bought it. I read in another review of our cruise that that was a mistake and it wasn't supposed to have been offered until Day 6 but they honored it.

they did offer the drink cards, it started out at 72$, then the next day i saw it listed at 67$. not sure if it dropped any lower.

 

remember though that the drink package prices had all been raised for the spring break cruises.

 

we had already purchased ours but the prices went up about a month or so before we sailed.

Ours was $67 before gratuity for 10 drinks up to $12.

Thank you for the review. You did a great job. I have to say, that I am getting a little concerned about our May 1 cruise. The reviews that I have read recently have too said that something was off. We are regular Carnival cruisers but Royal Caribbean was cheaper and we wanted to try something different. Our last cruise on Royal was on the Rhapsody in 2005 and we wanted to try one of their larger ships and we figured that the Liberty would be a good choice since it was larger and was getting some upgrades in dry-dock. Was the Boomerang waterslide open yet? Also, if you take a Royal Caribbean excursion in Grand Cayman do you get priority in tendering? Thanks

You will get priority tendering if your excursion is thru Royal at Grand Cayman!

 

Definitely try to have a great time without thinking about something being 'off'! Enjoy!

I wouldn't worry TOO much about the being off a little. I promise we had a great time and the ship is beautiful.

The Tidal Wave slide was not open and everything I have read leads me to believe it may be a while before it does open. Your cruise May 1 may be far enough off that they get something figured out. I know they had people on board all week of our cruise looking at it.

I can only assume that folks having Royal booked excursions do get priority at Grand Cayman. Sorry I cannot say for sure since that didn't apply to us.

We heard some, not enough to bother us because we came in late every night.

Coming back to the room during the day we occasionally had to ask people to move so we could get to our door. Our room, being right at the hall/elevator entrance is apparently a great place to have discussions before people would go their separate ways. Never a problem but something we noticed. . Luckily we are both heavy sleepers in the morning and it never woke us up.

You stay out late enough, drink too much and have too much fun it's funny how things don't bother you that might usually. Great question !!

We did not eat at the restaurant, it is not included in price and we didn't want to eat before we ziplined and afterwards there wasn't enough time.

There is some time wasted waiting for your turn to zipline and standing in line for the bobsled ride. It depends on how many people are there.

We could have eaten at the restaurant and the food looked good and several of our fellow excursioners did eat and enjoyed but NO you do not have to. It's a pretty long day without eating though and as soon as we got back to the port area we had some Jamaican patties because we were hungry. Next time we will eat at the restaurant.

they were available inside the "compound", there is a booth that has signs so Im pretty sure you won't miss it.
