Liquor in port

Recommended Posts

We have found some very good prices on all kinds of alcohol in many of the ports, including Cozumel. But we only buy it if we're driving. If you're flying, remember that you can't carry it on the plane with you. And the additional weight and risk of it breaking in your suitcase may not make it worthwhile.

We were at the airport waiting for our luggage one time and a woman who had returned from a cruise was picking hers up at the next luggage area. Her suitcase arrived dripping rum! She had packed two bottles in it and one of them broke. It smelled good though! :D

You shop for Tequila in Cozumel for the specialty tequilas, such as Super Anejo's and the like, that you can't get in the states. I'm pretty sure you can get Patron Silver in every port and on the ships. And you have to know your home prices or you'll probably overpay.

As noted, you'll have to pack it in your checked bags if you're flying. They will bubble wrap it at some of the places in Cozumel (picked up a bottle of Conquistador Anejo that's very hard to find in the US when we were there a few years back).
