Hi are you aware that the new Balconies wont be availible till AFTER April's 2006 dry dock. So if your looking to cruise in a couple of months it would be aboard the "classic" century and not the "new" Century.

I'm sorry, Dec 2006, after the refurbish....Guess no one would be able to tell me about the cabin, but any views on the ship would be great. I've heard the food and entertainment isn't so good, but then, some people love them....??? I'm sitting on the fence, should I book?

If you dont mind waiting about 3 weeks I will be able to tell you how the food.

But to tell you the truth food is a personal thing not everyone like's the same things if that was the case , there would be only on hamburger stand, Know what I mean! ;) However I hear that it is Fabulous!!

The Great thing about booking a cruise in Dec 2006. all the furnishings will be "fresh" and I hear they will install a specialty resturant also!

Good Luck!

I wouldn't hesitate to sail Century. She was our first Celebrity ship & we loved her. Everything about her was perfect. As Joey says, food is SOOOO subjective, all I can say is like all Celebrity food, we love some, some is just ok & some is not exactly as we would like, but still decent & certainly edible!

I would love to sail Century after the refurbishment, but her itineraries are not to my liking at this time, so I will stick with other ships. I just can't imagine how nice she will be with all those balconies & the specialty restaurant. After sailing an M class ship after Century, the specialty restaurant was one of the things we said she could really use to make her ever so much nicer!

Go ahead & book her, you will not be disappointed, she is wonderful! :D

My daughter and I spent 10 days on the Century in Europe and loved the cruise. The service (dining & cabin) was excellent, as well as the food. Tours were very well organized, the staff were friendly and helpful, with the exception of the Officers who we did not see very often.

This was my first cruise with Celebrity and I plan to return to their ships, we are looking into the Galaxy.

The Century is ready for upgrades, worn carpet and bedspreads, but in no way put a damper on the cruise.

I hope this helps.

I sailed on Century in May 2005 for the crossing and the Baltic. She is my favorite X ship. I can give you nothing but superlatives.... :D

Fantastic food, service, staff... and a captain the speaks English well.

Loved it!.. I have pics in a link in my signature if you want to check it out.

Not sure what the cabins will look like after the refurb, but I can tell you about the cabin we stayed in.. Our cabin# 1085 was an ocean view on the Penthouse deck, concierge class. It was very clean & storage space was abundant. 3 large closets, luggage fit under the bed & lots of cabinets, and drawers, even the mirror opened up to 3 large shelves & a safe. The bathroom had cabinets under the sink, with a full hair dryer & glass shelves for all your toiletries. The shower was a very nice size as well, and I liked the adjustable shower head.

The food & service on the Century did not disappoint our expectations! Dinner was so amazing every night, we always ordered every course, because we couldn’t bare to miss out on appetizers or dessert on account of being full. We ordered wine bottles for dinner & they will re-cork it for you & save for the following night.

Activities on the ship were maybe not as diverse as we would have liked, but then again, we are in our 20's & the ship tends to have an older crowd.

The entertainment was the only downfall about Celebrity in our opinion. The entertainment lacked in quality. The performers were not broadway show level, like I experienced on Royal Carribean. Some nights we left early & towards the end of the cruise we stopped going altogether. We decided to go to the casino, or a bar instead.

The ship had such a refined elegance & the decor also reflected that. The rich wood & elegant trims were very impressive. I read on other reviews about a smoke smell, but in all honesty, we didn't notice & we are non-smokers.

We also want to go on the ship again after its refurb. We truly enjoyed our experience.

Congratulations on your Wedding!

Thanks for your observations.. How long ago was your Honeymoon Cruise?

Just interested because we are in sky suite 1065 of the penthouse in just a couple weeks, It sounds like except for some cosmetic things it's still the ship to sail :D

We were on the ship Aug-Sep 2004. Our 7 day sailing turned into a 9 day sailing due to Hurricane Frances, we couldn't go back into FLL port. But no problems, though. Waters were smooth & captain kept us well informed as the situation progressed..

Anyway, getting back on topic, I figure it's probably some cosmetic things will show wear as well. Although, I will also add that while on the cruise the staff always seemed to be painting and maintaining the ship. for instance, one day they re-varnished the wood rails on the deck, and another day they painted the deck floor & had it closed off. No big deal for us & we were glad to see that they took such good care of the ship.

I know that they are adding 113 verandas. Which cabins right now have balconies, the Penthouse Suite, Sky Suite? Century Suite. I went to another website and it appears that there are balconies, aft on the Penthouse Deck, (called NS) Celebrity Suites that have balconies, but all other decks just have ocean views at aft.

Please let me know. I'm thinking of booking the two day cruise January 12 at dirt cheap prices! $190 inside and $400 Century Suite.

Thanks.

We have been on Zenith, Horizon, Constellation and Century. While all were great and had certain advantages and disadvantages, we liked Century best. It had great food and service, it was easier to get around than Constellation since it was smaller and you got to know guests and crew much like with the smaller Horizon and Zenith. To us, it was a good blend of Celebrity ships. We did however miss the alternative restaurant because we loved the one on Constellation. The T-Pool was not as large either, but overall you can't go wrong with Century. I hope to sail her again after the refurbishment and try the specialty restaurant. Have a great time!

If you are looking for the PERFECT ship, Century is not it...what ship is...but she is my favorite after Horizon,(I guess she will soon become my favorite)...she has a great staff, warm wonderful wood everywhere, not TOO big, a beautiful diningroom. She's not new, and that's a good thing!!...I've booked her for Feb/06 and am looking forward to a great 9 days.

The only thing....5 days?? I'd hardly have time to put on 10lbs!!
