Wyndham Sugar Bay

Any opinions from those who have stayed at the Wyndham? We are not really AI types, but we enjoy the "hotel experience" and just wonder if I have made a mistake booking 4 pre-cruise days. Wanting mostly to sit and do nothing, not run around the island. Have previously stayed at Morningstar and Hotel 1829, but just wanted to experience a difffernet place this time around.

We've stayed there and did the AI. Contrary to some of the reviews on TripAdvisor.com it's pretty nice. The beach was nothing special but did have decent snorkeling. Coki Beach is right across the bay from there. By car it would take you about 10-15 minutes to drive there. Sapphire beach is also about a 10-15 minute drive. I'm bringing that up because IMHO there are two nicer beaches just a stone's throw away.

There are a number of places to eat on the premesis: a buffet, a snack bar, and restaurant. The restaurant overlooked St. John and the views were gorgeous. They also have an upscale Italian restaurant that has a surcharge to eat there (even with the AI). The buffet and snack bar are down by the pool area. And yes, there really are 90-some-odd steps you need to climb to gt down there! But not to worry, they do have a shuttle service. :D

There's also a nice bar near the pool area. Karen, the bartender will treat you well. The frozen drinks are out of this world.

If you want to sit around and "do nothing" this is the place. ;)
