gummyvites Posted October 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2005 Hi all! Just wondering if Princess ships (Sapphire, specifically) offers any toys or lifejackets for kids to use in the pools. What about on shore? Still trying to figure out what to pack! :) Thanks!

Toto2Kansas Posted October 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2005 No, Princess does not supply any pool toys or floaties for children for use either on the ship or in port. If these are needed, you will have to bring your own.
merela Posted October 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2005 Princess does not provide any floatation toys/pool toys. The only place I've seen sand toys sold are at Princess store on Princess Cays. But you don't want to pay $15 for a bucket of sand toys. If you have small children, I would just buy them at the Dollar Store, Target, Kmart, or Walmart before your cruise. They do have children size life jackets available. Just ask your room steward for child-size life jackets before the Muster Drill. But that's for ship's emergency. Although you don't really need life jackets for tendering, you may want to bring the child-size life jackets with you when you tender with small children. mikesteg Posted October 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2005 Those on the ship are the true "life vest" style, right? They are designed to keep an conscious person from drowning, not for comfort or mobility. Princess also might have a problem with you using one for a non-emergency situation. For use in the pool you'd really need a vest style. Merela makes a good point about tendering too. It might seem like overkill, but if your kid falls off the boat or while transferring ship-to-ship... You can probably find a vest on clearance this time of the year (if you're in the south) and get one for maybe $20-25. Of course, there are the arm-floaty things too, which would take much less luggage space.

Rare ghgeckos Posted October 16, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2005 We always bring our youngest life vest with us. We pack it in a duffel bag and put all of our snorkle gear in the middle. It not only helps him float while we snorkle but nicely insulates our gear.
Cruisin' Chick Posted October 17, 2005 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2005 Some friends had passed on to us a swim floatie suit, that we did bring with us on vacation. We just had to get it inflated. When our girl got too small for that, we bought a suit at a swimming supply store that kept her afloat. That one didn't require inflating. Yes, this is one thing you should bring with if needed. I agree with the sand toys too. You can find them cheap (well, at least in the spring and summer) at the places mentioned and then just leave behind if you're bringing back lots of souvenirs.
