Carnival Magic - onboard messaging?

Last year our Carnival ship had the HUB where we could message people for a small fee. We heard this isn't on the Magic yet. Can someone confirm?

It's not. We're booked on the Magic later this year and it is not on there. Maybe by the time we sail. Fingers crossed.

Currently, the Hub App chat feature is only on board the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Vista.

Not sure if this is helpful to you or not but all the ships have the social media package I believe. The HUB messaging is $5 a day. And the social media internet package is less than that. You can iMessage, Facebook message and use whatsapp. I think it's a better deal than the HUB.

Let me apologize. I thought the HUB app was $5 per day but its the whole cruise. But I don't think it allows outside messaging. Just onboard.

I called Carnival today and they could barely tell me anything about the social media package. "Well, I haven't been on board to experience it myself yet." What?? They said they've gotten little training. So...she couldn't confirm if iMessage was included and if it's $25/day or for the whole cruise. Can anyone answer? Thanks!!

Social media internet is $25 for a seven day cruise. It does seem to allow iMessage, though the description doesn't include it. So, whether it works by intention or accident, IDK. Facebook messenger is officially supported, though, and works just as well.

This was for a five day cruise. iMessage is included.

When you log on to the package, it pulls up a site that tells you everything that's included. I didn't take a screenshot of that. But it did say iMessage.

So if you just want to use the Hub app, its $5 for the entire week and allows wifi to just that app so you can chat with others, correct?

If your ship has the app. And it only allows onboard communication. Can't txt someone off the ship.

Just came off the Splendor a few weeks ago. I had the unlimited internet and got the social pkg for the other 3 in our party. We were able to message each other in the group through the social pkg and everyone was able to use FB to chat with their friends/family back home. Well worth the investment for our family.

 

I have used a HUB app clone on a different cruise line and it was MUCH LESS RELIABLE than using the messaging through FB was for us on this cruise.
