Lyss_in_NH Posted April 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2016 Last year our Carnival ship had the HUB where we could message people for a small fee. We heard this isn't on the Magic yet. Can someone confirm? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
cruizinisthebest Posted April 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2016 It's not. We're booked on the Magic later this year and it is not on there. Maybe by the time we sail. Fingers crossed.
forwardcabin Posted April 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2016 Currently, the Hub App chat feature is only on board the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Vista.
Lyss_in_NH Posted April 17, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted April 17, 2016 That's what we read but I was hoping it was wrong! Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
nsullivan Posted April 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2016 Not sure if this is helpful to you or not but all the ships have the social media package I believe. The HUB messaging is $5 a day. And the social media internet package is less than that. You can iMessage, Facebook message and use whatsapp. I think it's a better deal than the HUB. Lyss_in_NH Posted April 18, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted April 18, 2016 Thanks! I'll look into that! Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
nsullivan Posted April 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2016 Let me apologize. I thought the HUB app was $5 per day but its the whole cruise. But I don't think it allows outside messaging. Just onboard.
Lyss_in_NH Posted April 20, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted April 20, 2016 I called Carnival today and they could barely tell me anything about the social media package. "Well, I haven't been on board to experience it myself yet." What?? They said they've gotten little training. So...she couldn't confirm if iMessage was included and if it's $25/day or for the whole cruise. Can anyone answer? Thanks!! NikkiJ1983 Posted April 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2016 It's $25 for the whole cruise.
Wheatie59 Posted April 20, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Social media internet is $25 for a seven day cruise. It does seem to allow iMessage, though the description doesn't include it. So, whether it works by intention or accident, IDK. Facebook messenger is officially supported, though, and works just as well.
nsullivan Posted April 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 20, 2016 This was for a five day cruise. iMessage is included.
nsullivan Posted April 20, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 20, 2016 When you log on to the package, it pulls up a site that tells you everything that's included. I didn't take a screenshot of that. But it did say iMessage.
nsullivan Posted April 20, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Found this one online. It's blurry but you can see iMessage on the list.
nireg Posted April 20, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 20, 2016 So if you just want to use the Hub app, its $5 for the entire week and allows wifi to just that app so you can chat with others, correct? nsullivan Posted April 20, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 20, 2016 If your ship has the app. And it only allows onboard communication. Can't txt someone off the ship.
jakesnana Posted April 20, 2016 #16 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Just came off the Splendor a few weeks ago. I had the unlimited internet and got the social pkg for the other 3 in our party. We were able to message each other in the group through the social pkg and everyone was able to use FB to chat with their friends/family back home. Well worth the investment for our family. I have used a HUB app clone on a different cruise line and it was MUCH LESS RELIABLE than using the messaging through FB was for us on this cruise.
