sc4125 Posted April 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2016 For those in the know - I just booked the July 30th Magic out of Port Canaveral. I originally planned to book a Lido balcony (cabin 10271 or 10267) but when booking my PVP advised that I could book aft wrap on Vista deck (9472) for the same price (this is a casino bounce back rate). So, never having stayed in an aft wrap (or a Lido balcony for that matter) I excitedly booked the wrap. Now, I'm having second thoughts - I've heard that the aft wraps on Vista deck are much narrower than those of lower decks, the room is smaller than a regular balcony, it's completely covered so you don't get any sun/can't star gaze at night, and you hear alot of chair scraping from the Lido. I was so excited because the balconies on the wraps have always looked so great, but I've also heard great things about the Lido balconies. So, opinions please!!! I should be able to switch back to the Lido balcony, but I just don't know what I should do. As far as chairs scraping - I'm an early riser so I don't think this would bug me too much - the aft pool won't be nearly as crazy busy as the mid pool. The cabin being smaller won't be that big of a deal as I'll be alone - my sister is in the inside cabin across from me - we'll be spending time together on the balcony, but won't really need the couch in the cabin. Lido balcony or Vista wrap around balcony????
steph7021 Posted April 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2016 Well I loved staying in 9472 on the Magic! It's a wrap (that I could never afford) with just a few sacrifices. No couch in the room and yes, it is more narrow and has shade. But, of course you can still see the stars (it isn't a prison cell!) it's not stupid hot and you get the advantage of the fantastic views! Plus, we loved hanging out on the aft pool and its steps away. We aren't lido people...but it's not that far to the lido. We heard no scraping. I did a review with pics. I think you can find that by searching the cruise in my signature. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Lido balcony or Vista wrap around balcony???? We cruised Breeze, Magic's sister ship, with dear friends in February. We booked 10273 (we always book Lido balcony cabins), they were in 9472. We visited each other's cabins often. After the cruise, we talked about the two cabins. They said they were disappointed that there was no couch, that there was never sun on the balcony due to a large overhang. They also thought the layout of the cabin was too choppy. They felt like there was less storage than in a regular balcony cabin. They said they would not book that cabin on a Dream class ship again. We love our Lido balcony cabins. I vote for going back to Lido balcony cabin.

sc4125 Posted April 18, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted April 18, 2016 Sounds like a mixed review (lol). I think I'm going to stay with the wrap balcony. I've always wanted to try one, and looking at the Magic's deck plans on the CCL site, it looks like the balcony on Vista deck may be narrower BUT it also looks longer (by one cabin width) from those on lower decks - Empress for example. Your pictures were wonderful - thanks for those. I will get a Lido balcony one of these days, but for now, I'll roll the dice on a wrap. Thanks for the opinions. OSUcruiser Posted April 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2016 I have 9475 in June. I was unsure at first, but thought we would give it a try. We too like the location with the aft lido bar. Not worried about lido noise because we use noise MachInes at night. It's all what you make of it! Can't wait to see my skinny aft wrap!
sjn911 Posted April 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Thanks for those pictures...I think the news on the new ships with the wraps are great...less noise above..and just a wonderful one to try it on...I think good decision op and a great way to try..just you etc. And fun to share it like you are...all that room!!! dalsti Posted April 20, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2016 We had 9472 on the Dream. The balcony is long but narrow, and we didn't like not having a couch for 8 days. The room is also a little tight. We moved next door to 9474 on the Breeze and loved the room. Large aft balcony and a couch. We booked 9474 again on the Magic for November. All that being said 9472 still isn't a bad room and you get both aft and side views. Enjoy!
greggk Posted April 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) We were in 9465 and my cousin was in 9472 on the Magic in April. We could both hear deck chairs scraping above us every day. Edited April 21, 2016 by greggk typo
vwrestler171 Posted April 21, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2016 I had 9472 on the Breeze, and if it was the same price as a Lido Balcony, I would take it in a heartbeat. I can't justify paying what they normally want for those rooms so if I can get them at a discount, I'd be all over it.
