Easiest way to Horseshoe bay from Kingwharf? Are there taxis/private vans etc

We'll be docking at KingsWharf 11-3-05 around 8:00am. We'll be in Bermuda for 2 days. We would really like to just go to horseshoe bay the first day. What the least expensive & quickest way to get there? Are there private guides waiting once you get off the ship? ANd are there taxis or private van drivers at horseshoe waiting to return you to the ship? We'll probably do some sightseeing the second day. Hopefully, weather permitting we'll be able to go to horseshoe bay. Is it a long walk from where the bus or ferry drops you off at to get to horseshoe? Walking is a major issue for us. Does anyone know what the average cost is to taxi to horsehoe from kingswharf and how long does it take to taxi over. Has anyone ever taken a private van or private guide. I do know from times past at most ports there usuAlly are independent locals offering rides and tours to certain places. We've never been to Bermuda and have heard that it can be quite costly to taxi in Bermuda, so we're looking for the most economical way of getting to horseshoe since too much walking can be an issue for us.

You can take the bus.

What Max'smom said. That is the best way.

I would not take a taxi on Bermuda. Just buy a two day bus/ferry pass and you can get anywhere you want to go. Take Bus number 7 to get to Horseshoe Bay. It is not a long walk at all to the beach but it is a steep downhill walk. Hard to do coming back up, but my old body can do it. Sometimes there is a van that rides you to the top of the hill for $1.00.

That same bus/ferry pass will get you back to the ship, or you can go on to Hamilton and then ride the ferry back to the ship (about 30 minutes). Or you could go to Hamilton first on the ferry, then take bus #7 to Horseshoe Bay, then the bus back to the ship.

Last time we were there we only had one day. They were not expecting a ship in that day (unscheduled stop) so we had Horseshoe Bay to ourselves. It was wonderful. We got there early and there weren't even any footprints on the beach yet. It was such a nice day that we stayed there all day and didn't go anywhere else. I love Horseshoe Bay especially in those conditions.
