Wisconsin Travelers Posted May 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2016 On this board I've read about purchasing a T10 metro ticket to explore Barcelona. I can't find any information on purchasing this type of multi-person card. Is it still available? Does anyone have any tips on how to buy it? Thanks. MADflyer Posted May 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Here is a link to the current information from the TMB in Barcelona. http://www.tmb.cat/en/sistema-tarifari-integrat/-/ticket/T10
Wisconsin Travelers Posted May 1, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Thanks so much for the link. I see that the T-10 ticket is good for 1 to 6 zones, and the price varies for the zones. Is metropolitan Barcelona all in one zone, so I can buy the ticket for the lowest price?
MADflyer Posted May 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2016 The entire central city is one zone. The other zones would be regional. http://www.tmb.cat/en/mapa-de-zones
Wisconsin Travelers Posted May 2, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Thanks, MADFlyer! I've read many of your postings to this board and you've provided lots of assistance to us and, I'm certain, to other travelers as well. Can't wait to visit Barcelona - I think it's going to be one of my new favorite European cities.
Pmorton3360 Posted May 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2016 We're going with the Barcelona Hola ticket. There's a discount on line and seems a better option since we'll be there 2 days. Don't know your plans but may want to check.
hawkeyetlse Posted May 2, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2016 If you are arriving at the airport, this ticket is not valid and (as far as I could tell) the machines at the airport metro stations do not sell this ticket. The train station at the airport (terminal 2B) does sell this ticket, and it can be used on the local trains to go into town. But most airlines/flights do not land at Terminal 2B, and going there is kind of a sad experience. :( if you are not coming from the airport, or if you are using some other transport to go from the airport into town, none of this matters, and you can get your T-10 ticket at any metro station. Currently costs 9.95 euros for zone 1, and can be shared by several people.
whimsy7 Posted May 31, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2016 we landed in Barcelona at Terminal 1. we purchased our tickets at the tabacca shop which is outside the building on the way to the car park. we used it on the bus to take us into central Barcelona. very useful and economical ticket. Barcelona is a beautiful city. am sure you'll love it too.
cc_rider Posted May 31, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) We were in Barcelona a few days before the cruise last month. Got the unlimited transit pass. Seemed simpler. Soon realized that the system is so easy to use, we would have come out ahead if we had just bought T-10's. One person goes through, then passes it back to the next person. Works on subway, tram or bus. For the couple days after the cruise we used a T-10. On our last day we had a four trips left over. At breakfast, we struck up a conversation with a couple from Canada who had arrived the day before and gave them the T-10 to use. Pmorton3360 Posted May 31, 2016 #10 Share Posted May 31, 2016 Does the T-10 work for the funicular at Montjuic?
cc_rider Posted May 31, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 31, 2016 Does the T-10 work for the funicular at Montjuic? It's good for the funicular, but not the teleferic (sky car) that gets you to the top of the mountain. That was 12 euro r/t but I thought that the views and experience were mostly worth it. Paying to get into the castle was questionable, since there is not much in there. However the views from the top are very good. One of the public buses, the 150, is supposed to go to the top. You could use the funicular and bus to go up to the castle and walk down through the gardens.
Pmorton3360 Posted May 31, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 31, 2016 Thanks. Thinking of going over there one evening, have dinner, and see the Magic Fountain. Only two days and so much to see.
cc_rider Posted May 31, 2016 #13 Share Posted May 31, 2016 Thanks. Thinking of going over there one evening, have dinner, and see the Magic Fountain. Only two days and so much to see. We saw the fountain during the day. When we went again at night on May 4, a Wednesday, it wasn't lit and wasn't running. Waste of a trip when we could have done something else. You might want to confirm their schedule. The Arenas has restaurants with nice views from the top level. We had a very good lunch at Quinto Quinta.
