Car rental Mayflower Cruise Terminal

Struggling to find information online so thought I try posting here. Joining a cruise from Mayflower terminal and basically wanted to rent a car and drop it off at the terminal. I have two little ones so was hoping to just drop the car for example in the short stay car park and maybe drop the keys in a box inside the terminal. Found a rental company that offer free transfer to terminal from Southampton city centre but that sounds like a stressful start to our holiday with all the luggage, kids etc. Thanks in advance if you have any experience to share.

I have used Enterprise who have a depot at gate 8. Dropped my luggage off at the terminal and then drove to gate 8 and handed the car in. They then ran me back to the terminal.

Thanks Brian. Have booked with enterprise now and will do like you said and drop the luggage first.
