The Escape is the same as the Breakaway...but we used the lady at the concierge desk in the Haven.

Brad

Lucky you!! Would love to stay in the Haven someday. Thank you for the info.

Re: smoking

On the Getaway, smoking was allowed on the Haven sun deck all the way forward. Somebody who was on the Escape transatlantic said that was still true. Is that no longer true?

I was on this same cruise (in the Haven) and yes, smoking is still allowed deck 19 in the Haven all the way forward. There were plenty of ashtrays. Also allowed at Spice H2O, deck 17 aft.

Thanks for the correction. :)

We were told by a Haven Courtyard Butler that there was no smoking in the Haven and did not pursue further. Never visited deck 19 forward. Also did not see ashtrays or smoking in Spice H2O when we visited early morning (but we did not stay long).

Here is the map for location of Graycliff. :)

Thanks for this map -- will come in handy! P.S. Cafe Matisse is a lovely restaurant -- no tourists, good food and you'll see lots of the local barristers and business people in there.

Really enjoying reading about your experience aboard Escape. Hope you talk a little bit about your experience in The Haven including the Restaurant and Lounge.

Yes, more to come, but now off to work. :D

Is this something new with prices on the menu's? I thought that they had a flat rate for each restaurant. How does that with work with the dining packages?

We chose the dining package as our "free" bennie when we booked. We were only able to book one of the restaurants ahead of time...hope we can book more once aboard. Otherwise we won't be able to use our "free" dining. Not sure how that works....

Thanks,

Linda R.

Yes a few of the restaurants changed over to a la carte. If you have a dinning package check and see how many meals you have some have UDP unlimited but most have SDP with 4 or 3 meals.

If you use one of your meals you have no additional cost at Cagney, Teppanyaki, Le Bistro, La cucina, Margartitaville (not worth it), or Moderno.

Food republic is one place everyone raves about has a small per plate charge no matter what dinning plan you have. Same with Pincho both are tapa places.

Bayamo is extra charge and one of your dinning nights. Around $15 extra not really sure.

I know its confusing.

As for making reservations if you have a smart phone download the Iconcierge app. When you get on board you can make reservations pretty easy the first day thru the app, your tv, Stateroom, phone, at any specialty dinning reservation desk, I think headliners.

Now if you are in Haven you can always ask the concierge to do it for you but best to do it early because he can not make a larger restaurant especially at Teppanyaki and Cagney's.

Thank you for this information!! I'm all about cooperating with the smoking policy, but the I was not looking forward to trekking out to the Waves Bar smoking section every time I wanted a cigarette.

Can you post the cabin number (unless I missed it)? Our family will be traveling on the Escape in September in one of the FF penthouses. We are very excited!

10106--sorry, just saw the pictures!

Now for some miscellaneous information:

We used the iConcierge App aboard the ship. The App worked well for us with our iPhones. We downloaded the App prior to arrival at the Port. We followed the instructions ...

How to use iConcierge App.pdf

The App was excellent for reviewing the menus of all specialty (extra charge) restaurants. The account review was also excellent for reviewing account charges. Charges show up on app almost instantly.

We paid the extra $7.95 x 2 (2 iPhones) for the text messaging. We used the text feature in the casino. I could be found easily at the craps table but J wandered all over looking for the hot slot. Toward the end of the evening (after winning :) ), I would text J to meet me at the casino cashier--sure beats wandering aimlessly in the large casino looking for J. We are not seriously gamblers (J accumulated 950 point from slots and myself 1400 points at the craps table), but we were both lucky this trip (starting with the first sea day and continuing the entire trip). :D:D

Having booked a suite, we received 250 internet minutes for free. I visited the internet cafe to find the log on procedure for the free minutes. The line was long to talk to the internet manager but saw the help info sheet on the desk. I followed these easy help info instructions for connecting to the ships wireless network.

Connection was good in our cabin.

Up next 4UDP and UBP ...

Thanks so much for the iConcierge information. I didn't know we'd be able to communicate with one another so easily and for very little money.

We had the 4 meal specialty dinning as a perk for booking (marked as 4UDP on key card).

xAQzXBVe

We also had 2 meal certificates as Platinum quests (only used 1). We planned to eat at La Cuncia with our Platinum certificate, and Bayamo (x2) - Le Bistro - Cagney with the 4UDP. We opted to eat at the Food Republic and Pincho Taps as our other 2 dinners. The Food Republic and Pincho were the best!

Favorite dish at Picnho (meal cost $48.13 for 2) :)

Boquerones - Spanish White Anchovies, Pickled Vegetables, Gordal Olives $2

DiKXoslx

Favorite apps with dinner at Bayono (UDP + $15 x2)

Matambre - Beef Carpaccio, Carrot Chimichurri, Quail Egg

vfRj5E1V

Salpicon De Mariscos - Chilled Lobster Salad, Crab, Purple Potato, Chipotle, Sesame Garlic Crumble

CzoCOSBm

Favorite dish at Le Bistro

Homard Roti Au Beurre - Cold Water Lobster Roasted in Butter with Artichokes and Chateau Potatoes

We ate each morning breakfast in the Haven and all were excellent. We seemed to have a different waiter each morning which made tipping on the last day difficult. We also had lunch 4 days in the Haven. Gone was the famous jumbo shrimp cocktail--greatly missed.

All the meals aboard the Escape were excellent. It was great to have choices!

We used one of the $50 port credits. We looked at the Sky ride in St Thomas.

On line before cruise

OfF4QAK4

We booked on board for $21 x 2 and the credit ($42) was applied the next day after St. Thomas.

Smoking is definitely allowed in the Haven Escape, on the upper sun deck all the way forward. There are even those black plastic ashtrays sitting all over.

Also, if smoke is a problem for you, I would not be making a reservation at Le Bistro before checking out the situation. Le Bistro is very close to the casino, one floor down but open air around the atrium. You smell the smoke from the casino while dining at Le Bistro.

Well ... I have now been home a week and no review should last longer than the cruise. :D

The Escape was a GREAT ship with an excellent staff.

Good bye -- Thank you for reading. :)

Thank you for posting.

I wish you continue. Everyone experiences are different.

I was looking forward to more.

But, my question is for the Cigar place in that hotel in Nassau. Is there a certain time the tour starts? Or, do you just show up and someone escorts you around?

My husband wants to visit this hotel while in Nassau. He loves a good cigar.

Thanks in advance :)

Visit http://www.nassauparadiseisland.com/what-to-do/unique-tours-activities/graycliff-cigar-rolling/

There are set times if you want to roll your own cigar (paid tour). :) Otherwise, just show up and Graycliff will let you do a 'self tour' to watch the cigar rollers.
