Quilcruisers Posted May 29, 2016 #26 Share Posted May 29, 2016 How lucky you are! I agree with casino, photos, drinks, excursions, you can spend quite a bit of that. Otherwise, I would immediately take half of it out at the casino - you can then apply it to your bill or take it back home with you. We have gotten onboard credits before but never that much. We have a small one right now that I will blow through fairly quick, but yours is worth planning the best way to use it. It does pay to be diligent about checking those fares and never hurts to ask. Good luck to you, what a pleasant surprise.

pal2pluto Posted May 30, 2016 #29 Share Posted May 30, 2016 wow! Thats amazing that you can get that much back. Let me get this straight.... You got the OBC because you DIDN'T take the upgrade that was offered, right? And all you needed to do was contact your TA and discuss that it was available and that you didn't want to change rooms, right?? so.......I booked through Carnival's website rather than a TA (early saver). I like my room, so I've really not paid any attention to the upgrades. Looks like I should! And if there is a similar sale/upgrade, can I just contact Carnival or do I need to have a TA?? JABrown104 Posted May 30, 2016 #30 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Invite 2 friends or relatives to come on the cruise with you.....pick a cabin for them that approximates your OBC and book it for them. They can then pay you and you'll have cash before you even cruise. Ill be your friend hahah
goofycruiser Posted May 30, 2016 #31 Share Posted May 30, 2016 We had about a $1000. OBC when we took our 25th Milestone cruise. We were on a 16 day Hawaii cruise. The steakhouse plus tip and a drink each was almost $100. We did a couple of excursions. Two drinks at a bar were about$17. We bought a couple bottles of liquor n the shops. We also bought some stuff in the gift shop. You will be able to spend the money, you just have to be creative! Ours was non refundable and we were not going to give any of it back! You are booked early saver so you do not have to take an upgrade over the OBC. It doesn't matter who you booked with. If you booked directly with Carnival just call their 800 number and speak to a CVS. If you have a PVP call them and they will take care of it. Bottom line is you call whomever you booked with. No need to have a TA. You should read the terms of early save r to better understand exactly how it works.:) Bill

Badfinger Posted May 30, 2016 #35 Share Posted May 30, 2016 I was raised that you never know until you ask and the worst that can happen is someone says no. Much to my surprise no one said no. Let me back up...So I noticed there was a sale posted on Carnivals website and called my travel agent to see if we could get an adjustment or an upgrade. They offered us two nicer rooms but since hub and I are in one cabin and our two teenage girls are in the adjoining cabin with two of their friends we didn't want to split up the rooms. So now we are sitting a pretty hefty onboard credit that we could never possibly use up. We both socially drink and will enjoy ourselves on the trip but we aren't huge drinkers and we do have our littles with us so the cheers program would be a waste on us. I will take advantage of the spa but that will still only make a small dent in the credit. I feel like somewhere I read that you could go to the casino and cash out some of your onboard credit. Is this true and if so can someone please school me? B thanks in advance! No offense to the other posts above, but forget all that. Once onboard, go to the Kiosk and setup an account. You just need to create a PIN. If you can read and follow instructions, in might take 90 seconds of your time. Once you do this, you can withdraw that OBC. All $20.00 bills! No fee, no fussing in the smokey casino, no waiting in guest services line, no feeling you have to spend it on-board, ..just straight cash homey! Yes you can do this. I did this with a ES price reduction that resulted in OBC on a Magic sailing a couple years ago. I took over $1200 out of the kiosk. Nice big wad of $20 bills. Oh sure I could have left it on my account to pay the few charges we had, but I would much rather have a wad of cash and a small credit card bill rather than wait for Carnival to hopefully process and send me a check a month later. paget Posted May 30, 2016 #38 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Can an OBC be used if you make calls from you cabin back home? Just wondering if anyone has ever done this. Thanks!
jenms2000 Posted May 30, 2016 #39 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Can an OBC be used if you make calls from you cabin back home? Just wondering if anyone has ever done this. Thanks! Yes it can! I've called home before and it goes on your sign & sail so your OBC will take care of it.
Carnival_Brides Posted May 31, 2016 #40 Share Posted May 31, 2016 I think some of you are confusing the ATM for the CCL kiosks. The ATM uses your bank card and there are obviously huge fees. You can take cash out of the kiosk using your S&S as long as you have cash/OBC available to do this. We've done it a few times and we've used it to change out larger bills for smaller ones.
