NWACruiser Posted June 17, 2016 Author #101 Share Posted June 17, 2016 The bar staff… or I really did not have to ask… As much time as I spent in the Ocean Plaza, the waitresses knew me by first name and my beverage of choice. They engaged with the customers to make sure everyone was served. Angela and Flora, in particular, were very nice and pleasant. They always asked me where DW was if she was not there. Thanks for being a friend Flora Kendall was outstanding both in the Casino/Ocean Plaza and the Crimson Dining Room for week one. We were disappointed when we found out she was re-positioned to the Scarlet Dining Room the second week. Finally, the Crimson Dining Room Staff. Zubin, Berny, and Edgar made the dining experience so much fun in the first week, we asked to have them again the second week. Between Zubin, Ionela, and Davor, not only did we get the same staff for the second week, they arranged for us to have the same table, and, they changed our dining time from late (which we did not want) to early. NWACruiser Posted July 1, 2016 Author #102 Share Posted July 1, 2016 I must have written a boring review. I thought for sure the trolls would be all over my credit to Carnival as a cruise line. For those that read it, thanks for enjoying it.
Detroit97 Posted July 1, 2016 #103 Share Posted July 1, 2016 What a great review! Thank you sooo much for sharing your trip! I've got 38 days till my trip on the Dream. What would you consider is a must-do on the ship? Thanks!!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
NWACruiser Posted July 1, 2016 Author #104 Share Posted July 1, 2016 It is not an easy question. That depends on person. For me it was seeing all the live entertainment on the ship. I much prefer that over DJ's. If you are a steak person, then you must eat at the steakhouse. The main thing is enjoy the cruise and don't let the little things ruin the cruise. NWACruiser Posted July 1, 2016 Author #106 Share Posted July 1, 2016 I gave this some more thought. Here is the definitive answer everyone should do on any cruise. The crew works long hours seven days a week without any days off for the length of their contract. Typically the contract is for eight months. During this time, they are away from their family. When you see a crew member, smile and say hello. Ones you see on a regular basis, ask about their family. Take a little time to know them. It will make their day. NWACruiser Posted September 20, 2016 Author #108 Share Posted September 20, 2016 How was room 9257 I am booked in that room for Feb 2017 cruise ?? First of all, thanks for reading my review. We have always had a window or balcony on every cruise prior to this one. It was the first inside cabin we have booked, so we were apprehensive at first. It turned out to be a good cabin. The layout has the bed against the back wall facing the cabin door. There was no sofa bed available. The rest of the cabin is standard Carnival layout. It has enough room for two people to function without getting in each other's way too much. What we really liked about the cabin: Close to all the action on the Lido Deck. Close to the Spa. Near the elevators. There is a special surprise on this floor. If you go out the door, turn left (forward) and head to the end of the aisle. Make another left and head to the end of that aisle, and turn right, there is a door to a secret deck. Be careful when you open the door, as it will be windy. I spent many a night on the deck away from the crowd. This made up for not having a balcony. From this deck, I took many photos including the one of the moon. We did not really feel any motion of the ship, but I am not that sensitive to a ship's rocking. I would recommend having a small flashlight to keep by the bed,in case the ship's lights go out, as these rooms are pitch black without the lights on. We purchased a couple headband lights for this purpose. Fortunately, we have never experienced the power going out on a ship ever. We both agreed that the second leg's balcony cabin was an improvement, especially having the balcony. However, we would book an inside cabin again. ASH1226 Posted September 20, 2016 #109 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Thank you for your wonderful review. I have only stayed in balcony rooms usually on the 7th deck midship.. Was worried that this room may rock or be noisy since lido deck is above it. We recently cruised the dream in August 2016 in cabin 7283 and the beds were very uncomfortable they actually were sank in. We cruised the valor this summer and found the beds in our cabin to be wonderful.. I guess the beds are hit and miss. I never knew about the secret decks and I will certainly be checking it out!!!! We are sailing again on the Dream in Jan 2017 in a deluxe ocean view on deck 2..... This will be our first in this room type also. Thanks again for the great review!!!! ASH1226 Posted September 20, 2016 #111 Share Posted September 20, 2016 I am hoping they will add it when it goes to dry dock in Jan 2017. Nothing is posted regarding the dry dock details. I really enjoyed the Guys Burger on the Valor this summer!!! When are you cruising on the dream??
Shooshoo Posted September 22, 2016 #112 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Thanks for that great review. The pictures were outstanding - great photographer. We are leaving out of New Orleans on the Dream on October 9th. Can not wait... especially after reading your review. Sounds like you probably have a great time wherever you go and whoever you are with. Hoping we can request Zubin, Edgar, and Bernie on our cruise. Have a great time on your Alaskan cruise. We have done the Alaskan cruise three times and all three were great. Beautiful scenery. For sure you will be able to get great pictures. Maybe one day our paths will cross as we are both cruising fanatics.
NWACruiser Posted September 22, 2016 Author #113 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Hoping we can request Zubin, Edgar, and Bernie on our cruise. Thanks for the compliment on my review and photography. If a picture says a thousand words, it seems it takes a thousand pictures to get a good one. :D The crew typically works on and 8 months on and 4 months off. _I might be a little off here.) Its hard to say if they will be on the ship during your cruise. But if you email the Maitre D' and request them, they may accommodate you. I have not had a bad Dining Room crew on the ship. It seems like they all do a wonderful job. Davor was our Maitre D' on this cruise and the one last August. It's possible he may be back on the ship. I am looking forward to the Alaskan cruise and plan on doing a review of it also. I am doing a lot of research of the cruise. I am looking forward to see how Seattle has changed since I was last there in 1980.

Looking forward to sailing on the Dream in the future.Wanda Thanks for the compliment. I had a blast on the Dream. We are planning future cruises, but have not made any decisions. The Dream will be even better with the 2.0 upgrades. :) (Except for dropping live music for the shows.)
