beachump Posted May 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2016 On board the Ovation of the Seas right now headed to India, without an India visa. This is my third cruise that stops in India without one. Every time, RCCL threatens "No visa, No boarding the ship" Every time when I arrive at the check in desk they just have me sign a "India Visa Waiver" see attached. It just has you agree to stay on board the ship while in port. No problem with doing that at all!!!! So many people I've talked to while on board have been traumatized by all the hoops they had to jump thru just to get into a third world country, not to mention all the expenses. $200-$400 a couple. If India wants all the revenue from cruise ship passengers, they need to get in line with all the other countries that welcome cruise ships. PS. I have no intentions of jumping ship in India. beachump Posted May 30, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Been there, it's a dump. You're not missing anything... It's a real scam, forcing to people to buy a visa when they have no desire whatsoever to see that place.
north29 Posted May 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) A visa to visit India is a must, if you are truly a world traveler. We we really enjoyed our stops in India, food and tour guides were great. We would like to go back some day. AussieVisi2r Posted May 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) I absolutely loved my four days in India on Rhapsody last year. What an amazing and fascinating country. After all I do travel to see other cultures, and it doesn't come much different than India. BUT, on that trip there were close to 300 people who DID NOT have Indian visas. They just stayed on board. No dramas - apart from not seeing India. Raina Edited May 30, 2016 by AussieVisi2r

If Celebrity would guarantee that I could board in Abu Dhabi in January without a visa I would gladly skip the ports.

Many, many hours of filling in forms. The submitting and waiting. It really is the worst. But so worth the effort. Raina
beachump Posted June 1, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Plenty of people have remained on board today, happy not to have wasted time and money on a visa. I hope the ones that come back don't bring any nasty surprises with them.
Fat Bastard Posted June 1, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Currently writing this from the solarium on the Ovation, I fell for the BS from RCL about having to have a visa. I may go onshore, but I doubt it. This is a heartfelt #FURC
