New French Polynesian entry tax automatically put on your shipboard acct?

Just heard about a new $40+ per person tax that the govt. in FP started charging incoming tourists. Supposedly Princess adds this to your shipboard account when you sail on the Tahitian Princess. Does anyone know more about this - and if it's true? Thanks for any info.

Yes, it has been posted on here several times already. The $40 is for the Cook islands and the Marquesas is almost twice that high. It is only added to your account if you have already made final payment, otherwise it will be added to your cruise fare and included in your final payment.

Thanks a lot for your replies. (Sorry, Toto, I only saw one reference to it and I think it was on another site.) So, since I cancelled my other reservation and booked a balcony cabin w/a different agency last wk., this tax is probably already included in the amount I owe for final payment? Guess either way I'll find out soon!
