naz022292 Posted June 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2016 I have an early saver question. I'll call Carnival, but wanted to check here to see if others have had experience. I booked an OV cabin for myself, husband, and our 24 year old son. He is now thinking that he'd like to bring his girlfriend so they would need their own cabin. My question is, would his moving from our cabin into his own interior cabin be considered an upgrade and allowed, or would he have to cancel his cruise and re-book loosing $50? Luckily his current fare (less port fees, taxes, and gratuities) was only $179, but would still hate to lose money if he was to move to his own cabin. I was inquiring about something similar (hubby, myself and 14yr old son to hubby and myself in 1 room with son in a separate room) and what my PVP with carnival stated is his deposit would be transferred to the new room but it all depends on if you did reduce deposit or not. If you did reduced then the deposit amount would go up to what it is currently. You would not have to cancel and pay a fee as you are just adjusting the room type. Still double check with carnival though as who knows if it is something they can regularly do. I was told technically its an upgrade as going from 1 room to 2. Herbaltees Posted June 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2016 I've had to do this before and never lost the deposit or had a change fee. Your son was most likely 3rd passenger rate and would now be first/second passenger.
