We are taking this excursion and I wonder if we will need just water shoes (the kind you wear at a rocky beach) or boots. It will be low tide............just don't know if it will be dead low and how mucky it will be. TIA for any info.

Hopewell is a sandy to 1/4" pebble beach, It is not wet or muddy, sneakers/water shoes/crocs should be fine. Heals/wedges/thongs are not the best idea. There are a good number of stairs you don't want to trip on. Also keep in mind that Hopewell is about a 2hr drive from Saint John near Moncton.

Thanks, I am aware of the distance...........that's why I chose a ship excursion, too much chance of missing the boat! We rented a car previously to do the Fundy Trail and St Martin, but this is just too far to chance. I will wear my water shoes :D

I was mostly stepping on pebbles but had to step into a muddy patch and my shoes sank an inch into the muck. Shoe washing station very useful at the top of the stairs when you go back up.
