ourblackberry Posted June 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2016 We were on Magic a few years ago, at the height of Frozen fever. Does anyone know if the theme and movie have been updated for 2017, or are they still going with Frozen? moki'smommy Posted June 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2016 Frozen is still huge. However, the Frozen deck party was on a few select cruises only. The Magic has Marvel Academy in the Oceaneer's Club and has recently added Marvel meet and greets on some cruises. Depending on when you are cruising, there are Halloween and "Very Merry" themed cruises. Most cruises do not have a specific theme for the cruise (other than the holiday themes above). I'm not sure what you mean about updating the movie. The movies on the ship are changed every few months, or even weekly on long cruises. New releases are added on the same day they come out in the US. However, older films continue to be shown on the ships long past their "on land" removal from theaters. ourblackberry Posted June 16, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 16, 2016 Thanks, we're going in February. On the last (February) cruise we took, Frozen had just been released in theatres- it was playing every day on the cruise and we couldn't seem to escape "frozen fever"! Hopefully Disney will have a new movie to show by the time we go. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

moki'smommy Posted June 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) Any time there is a new release, there is a PremEar at Sea at midnight on the release day and then it is shown several times the next day...and typically at least once a day until the end of the cruise. From then on, the schedule is determined in part by how the attendance was on the previous cruise. Even 6 months later, if the BV theatre is half full at each showing, they will keep scheduling it. Showing a movie is "cheap" entertainment for DCL in the sense that they need one technician to show the film and a couple of people to sell popcorn outside. They'd rather show a film too many times than have people complaining that they "couldn't" see it. Edited June 17, 2016 by moki'smommy
