Carnival Freedom v RCCL Liberty of the Seas

Hey all,

I am looking at booking a cruise out of Galveston in the spring next year and am debating between Carnival and RCCL. Will be my dh and I and two kids 10years and 12 years old. Itinerary is the same. I am familiar with Carnival and have never been on RCCL, but the LOS looks like it has more to offer the kids. From what I have read the food is better on Carnival, so I am torn and need some input from people that know more than me.

I am also going to post the same question over on the RCCL board.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I have done the Freedom twice and the Liberty once. I much prefer the Freedom for a couple of reasons. 1: There seemed to be more activities throughout the day on Carnival compared to Royal Caribbean. Carnival seemed to have Trivia or Live Music going on all day long. Royal Caribbean had some music for a few hours and not a lot of trivia. The Ice Skating Rink and Rock Climbing wall were open for a few hours every day. 2: The food is much better on Carnival and there are more choices. Royal Caribbean's dining room did not seem to have a lot of choices and the food was average at best. The buffet on both cruise lines are similar. 3: If you have kids, I would go with Carnival. The Liberty does have the waterslides and rock climbing wall, and the teen clubs, but that is about it. Carnival is more of a family cruise line and has more activities going on for families/children.

We just sailed RC Liberty of the seas. Our boys are 7, 8, 8 and they loved it! During refurbishment they added a wonderful splash pad water park with slides for kids. My kids had a blast here! They also had fun on the big kid slides as well. The flow rider was fun.

We tried the rock climbing wall a couple of times but they were closed.

My boys loved the kids club.

Have fun!
