Venice Water Taxi Advice

Hello everyone,

We're are going on the Celebrity Constellation on November 14th (Athens to Abu Dhabi). We're not fussed by Athens so decided to pop to Venice for a few days before.

We land in Venice at 12:15pm and would like to get a private water taxi straight to our hotel, Hotel Ai Cavalieri di Venezia (we chose because of its trip advisor rating and location).

I'm aware that there are several options, some of which include a meet and greet at the airport, and some where you have to walk to the docks (we don't mind either).

Does anyone have any suggestions that are reasonably priced? The hotel has offered a meet and greet at at the airport and water taxi ride for 180 Euros but I know we can do much better than this. Many thanks in advance.

Water taxi is your best bet..

100€ right to the hotel jetty.

We used one pre-booked in Nov 15. ... google "motoscafi"

We will return there in a few weeks and are using the a water taxi again and the same hotel.

Excellent choice of hotel.

Ask at the front desk for a taxi to the ship and if other guests are willing to share.

The taxis are large enough to share, this makes it good value to transfer to the ship.

Thank you @helpthejuggler

I had been looking at this company. Are the boats the nice wooden ones that have a relatively luxurious feel? Or are they the cheaper alternative? Did it go through the grand canal?

We aren't actually getting the cruise from Venice, as we are flying from Venice to Athens for the cruise, but thank you for the advice regarding sharing. The water taxi will just be between two of us.

The taxi we had was large with wooden roof with windows along the side with a sliding roof over the rear seated area. Sadly not the smaller speedboat type but that could be luck of the draw.

It was just two plus luggage too

We did not go along the grand canal but went towards Guidecca then came along a narrow canal near the hospital.

I realised that you were not going to the port after I posted... but you may find others going to the airport too.

Also does anyone know of any that do include an escort from the airport? It would be good to draw a comparison and decide if the difference in price is worth the extra convenience.

Adam,

When I booked (with the company below) they did not offer a meet and great. I understand that it is about a 10 min. walk under covered walkway and carts are available. My ride for 2 people with 5 pieces of luggage was 110 euro.

We have prebooked a water taxi with veneziataxi.it for our upcoming cruise in September. The cost of the water taxi is 110 Euros. They also offer a shuttle to take you from the baggage area for an additional 15 Euros if you don't want to walk to the water taxi dock.

For our Venice trip last September, we also booked a meet-and-greet outside customs, Mercedes transfer to the water taxi, and a private water taxi to the hotel. It was absolutely NOT worth the extra money to do so. The Mercedes ride was longer than the walk would have been and we arrived at the taxi stand AFTER the people that were BEHIND us leaving customs. And our "private" taxi was just one particular boat at the water taxi stand and looked identical to all of the others - iconicly Venetian, wooden, low, small windows around, velvet cushions, etc.

Next time, we will simply exit customs, follow the clearly-marked signs down the covered walkway to the water taxi stand, wait patiently in the short (4-5 people) line, and pay the taxi driver to take us to our hotel.
