Multiple stateroom discount

We have booked a cruise and will be taking Mum with us in a separate cabin. My wife and I are both Diamond members of C&A and during the booking process the RCI agent said we should book myself into one stateroom, and my wife in the other so we could get the Diamond discount on both staterooms.

But when onboard we will want to swap staterooms. I've often read this can be done, but how does one actually go about making the swap.

Do we simply go to guest services? Do they move the account folio too to match the room change? I assume they then re-print the sea pass cards with the correct details. Has anyone done this and how easy is it to do?

Any advice appreciated.

Go to Guest Services after you board and ask for an extra key to the stateroom. They usually don't mess with changing SeaPass cards or folios.

It is as very easy switch. When you sign in, you put the correct people on the correct Credit Card. Two people do not have to be in the same room to use the same credit card. Then you sign in and get your Sea Pass Cards. When you get onboard, you go to guest services and ask for an extra Key card for the room you and your wife will be using. She will use her first key card for any charges and the second key card will simply be used as a door key. They do not change the original key card. It means one of you will have two key cards, one for each room. They really don't care where you sleep once you are checked in and they have a credit card on file for your charges. If you and your wife always return to your cabin together, you may not even want to bother getting the second key card for your cabin.

The last time we did this, Guest Services issued new cards with the correct information. Nobody had to carry two cards.
