dpowell3 Posted August 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Good Evening All, We are sailing on the Britannia on 21st October and will be staying in cabin G529 (obstructed balcony), has anyone stayed in this cabin? I have checked google and can't find any photos of this exact cabin and it's view. Gutted now as the price has gone down quite a bit from when we originally booked so could have opted for the non obstructed view if we would have waited. Thanks, DP. FAB1 Posted August 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2016 Looking at the deck plans it seems to have the larger lifeboat in front like this cabin so should be a similar view:- https://ask.pocruises.com/resources/carnivaluk/fleet/BR_G610.jpeg

So not too bad, just cant look straight down, but would be able to look out and across, with nothing in the way.

The only thing with waiting for a price drop is that by then the unobstructed view cabins may have sold out, or what is available not be in a very good position. Your view should not be too bad, just will not be able to look down....
dpowell3 Posted August 14, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted August 14, 2016 Thanks everyone! Doesn't look too bad at all. Just wondering if I should have ticked the upgrade option now as we may have been upgraded to a non-obstructed view perhaps?
Scriv Posted August 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2016 Is it still possible for you to tick the upgrade box?

Cruise Puss Posted September 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Fantastic was reading through the post and was going to suggest a call to CS to see if they were feeling kind - and bingo your last post an upgrade brilliant very fair of P & O Re. upgrades - when you book with P&O (not sure about other cruise lines) you are automatically put on an 'upgrade' list. If you do NOT want to be upgraded you have to tell them this when you book. You may not want one if you have specifically chosen your cabin for a particular reason. We've certainly been in this position, and have asked not to have an automatic upgrade. You do have to be aware that an 'upgrade' is not necessarily up to a different category. This can be confusing and we fell foul of this a while back when we left my Mother-in-Law on the 'upgrade' list. She was booked in to a balcony cabin on C deck near the aft of the ship (we were on Arcadia). We thought (stupidly!) that an upgrade would possibly have put her in a mini-suite - this was the 'category' above hers. Wrong. She WAS upgraded, but to a balcony cabin which was in the middle of the ship! This is considered an upgrade. We have learnt our lesson!
