I know this is probably a dumb question but is one allowed to open your own bottle of wine and take it into the dining room or would you still get charged the corkage fee?

The corkage fee is not always imposed. For example we purchased several bottles with dinner and on a few occasions brought our own. We never were charged a fee, but probably would have if we had brought our own each night.

They probably wouldn't like you coming to the dinning room with an already open bottle. They wouldn't say anything, but would probably charge a corkage fee. One way to get around this is to bring a wine that they sell on board. You can find a partial list on the Princess website and there are other postings that will provide a complete list or have posted the wine list somewhere.
