Great review!!! Thank you!!! We are sailing the Jade on Thanksgiving after she gets back to the USA. A sea day review would be great as we are not hitting those ports although I wish we were. How was the ship overall? We have sailed her sister ship the Gem out of NYC and looking foward to seeing the differences. :):D

Thank you! After my Olympia review I can do a sea day review, and I will also do an overall Ship review! I hope you have a great time on your Thanksgiving Cruise! :D

Hello again! So on the 11th August, we visited Katakolon Port for Olympia, which was our last port :(.

We booked a private tour before our cruise with Mr Theodoros Mamousis who we found on tripadvisor. We got up early and were off the ship by 8:45 and waited in the port car park for him. We were early to our scheduled 9am meet up, and he arrived exactly on time at 9am- not a second earlier or later! He had my father's name clearly on the dashboard of his minivan and spotted him immediately. In those 15 minutes of waiting, we were so scared because we had never booked a private tour before! Luckily, it was the best decision ever because he was the highlight of our whole cruise!

We quickly got inside his minivan, which was a new 2014 Mercedes Vito, and were off to the Archaeological site of Olympia. The minivan was clean and spotless, and Mr Theo himself was brilliant. He grew up in Olympia and has been working as a private tour guide for over 30 years, so he really does know what he is talking about. He taught us a lot about the history of greece and the history of Olympia. He talked non stop but was extremely kind. He reminded me a lot of my Grandpa!

The drive to the site was about half an hour and was very comfortable. Firstly, he took us to the monument of Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the Olympic Committee. This was interesting to see because it is part of the olympic torch relay, and many group guides don't actually take you here to see it.

After that, we went to the archaeological site and the museum. Tickets are 12euros per person including entrance to both the site and the museum, and under 18s go free. Mr Theo handed us a very useful guide book that compared modern pictures of the site to what it used to look like. Very interesting. We agreed to meet Mr Theo outside the museum in two hours, and off we went. The site is fascinating, and because we took a private tour, it was so empty. We had great photo opportunities because we were the first ones there. We looked around site for about 75 minutes which was enough time, and then we walked to the museum. This was probrably a 100m walk with a botanical garden on the way if you want to visit it. As we were leaving the archaeological site, we saw all the tour buses/ship excursions arriving. Just another reason why I really recommend Mr Theo- you get the place all to yourself!

The museum has free toilets and also a vending machine selling water for 0.50 euros. We spent 45 minutes in the museum which was more than enough time. It was also very fascinating. Sure enough, as we left the museum, there was Mr Theo waiting for us as we agreed!

Mr Theo gave us many options on where to go next, including a monastery, a local winery or a lunch show. However, we opted not to and decided to go into Olympia Town. The town is very small with some souvenir shops and some restaurants. Mr Theo took us to a restaurant called 'aegean restaurant' which was brilliant and we highly recommend it because all the food is cooked fresh unlike the cafe next door! We tried some gyros, souvlaki and some local beer, which came to just 24 euros altogether. We were also given bread and tzatziki on the house- the best i've ever had! Overall it was a lovely and delicious lunch with Mr Theo!

After than, Mr Theo took us to San Andreas beach. The beach is very small but also very beautiful with black sand and crystal clear water. There are also sunbeds available and a few cafes.

We then decided to head back to the port although Mr Theo offered to take us to other places too, but we like to be back on the ship a couple hours early. For our family of four, our tour with Mr Theo costed just 120 euros! What a bargain! NCL were asking for 70 euros per PERSON for the exact same thing .

I absolutely 100% recommend that you book with Mr Theo because he really was the highlight of the trip and was such a lovely man. No matter how many people there are in your group (max. of 8 in one minivan), it is a fixed price of 120 euros for the whole minivan. So the more people in your group, the cheaper it works out pp. Mr Theo also gifted us with some of his homemade olive oil which was so kind of him. We were so hesitant to book privately because we were scared of scams, but it was the best decision ever because he was such a star. If you are looking to book with him, you can find him on tripadvisor at https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g189487-d6868189-Reviews-Katakolon_Taxi_Tours_to_Olympia_by_Mamousis-Olympia_Elis_Region_West_Greece.html . On there is his email and website. We emailed him directly and he always answered our emails quickly. Olympia defo was the highlight of our trip thanks to Mr Theo and we cannot recommend him enough!

Hi again so here are my sea day reviews as requested!

7th August- First Sea day

As it was our first day at sea on the Jade, we decided to wake up early to snag some sunbeds. We were out the cabin by 8am, and sure enough there were probably about 5 other people by the pool deck! We chose some sunbeds by the adult pool and had a nap. The staff on the pool deck gave us stickers to put on our sunbeds that showed what time we arrived. This is so that people don't hog them the whole day when they don't actually use them. However, this was the only day that we were given these stickers, and they don't actually enforce the rule even though they try to.

We grabbed some fruit from the Garden Cafe Buffet and brought it out to our sunbeds to eat for breakfast. This was very relaxing as it was so warm and quiet. By around 9am most people started arriving and at about 10am pretty much all the sun beds were taken. We grabbed lunch from the outside buffet (I can't remember what it's called) and just had lunch by the pool.

At around 2pm, just as the 'Mr Sexy Legs' competition was starting, it started to rain!:( We quickly left and headed back to our room to clean up. We then decided to have some comfort food at the Blue Lagoon 24hr eatery. The food here is very good and exactly what it advertised- comfort food! The blue lagoon is ultimately the Jade's answer to O'Sheehan's.

At 4pm it stopped raining and was all sunny again :). My mum and I sprinted back to the pool deck for some more sunshine, whilst my Dad and Brother went to the sports deck for a football tournament.

At around 7pm, we decided to have an early dinner. We ate at the Grand Pacific main dining room the day before, so we decided to check out Alizar, the other main dining room. The food here was good but just your typical cruise dining food. It did have sushi though in the starter, which was a bit different.

After dinner, we wanted to get some sunset photos. We went to the back of the ship and discovered 'the Great Outdoors'. This is an outdoor buffet just behind the main Buffet, and was a great find! Most people did not know about this place so it was usually really empty. We managed to capture some really great sunset photos. This was our favourite place to sit and chat throughout our whole cruise.

We watched the show which was a singing- dancing show by the cruise performers. It was ok but nothing amazing. Overall, we had a great first full day at sea!

12th August- Second sea day/Last full day on the Jade :(

On our last day on the Jade, we were feeling lazy and tired, probably because of all the fun we had the past week! We didn't leave our cabin until 11:30 ! Sure enough, the pool deck was full to the brim and there was absolutely no space for us. But this was not a problem as we decided to just enjoy the ship itself and just explore. First, we went to the Blue Lagoon just to grab some comfort food. However, they were 'closed' and getting ready for the day Lunch menu so they told us to come back at noon. Not sure how that works since the Blue Lagoon was supposedly a 24hr eatery:confused:. Instead, we decided to check out the Bridge Viewing Room. This was really hard to find as it was really well hidden but after our what felt like a maze, it was a great find! There was no one else but us in there and we could see the captain steering our ship. There are also maps and lots of interesting things to read and see. It was a great find!

After that we ate lunch at the Blue Lagoon, and went to play Deal or No Deal in the Stardust Theatre. It is $20 to play and was great fun. We didn't win anything though :(. Straight after Deal or no Deal was the Crew Talent Show. This was hilarious and was great fun- especially the cruise director team!

We had dinner at the Jasmine Garden which was great and enjoyed some last minute family time in our favourite 'Great Outdoors'. Overall, we had a really great last sea day, despite not spending any time by the pool!

Thanks for the great review beverleyngo168.

Just wondering if on your two sea days did Jade stays close to the coast for any island/coast views? or travelled in the middle of the Adriatic, with mostly sea views?

No problem! On our first sea day it was pretty much just the sea, but on our last sea day we did get some views of some land in the distance! Best of both worlds! :)

Hi Melanie glad you're enjoying the reviews! We did not hear of an RJ Red on board unfortunately. Do you mean Roberto the Cruise Director? Because he was our cruise direction and he was fabulous. And about the Internet, we didn't use the internet on the ship but the prices on board are about the same as if you were to prebook. Hope this helped!

ah Roberto was Assistant CD on 2 of our cruises I guess

but no, Roberto and Dorota are artists (rope artists? not sure if its the correct translation - sorry English is not my native language) in the Theatre

RJ Red played the guitar in the atrium each evening on most of our Jade-Cruises.

he is fabulous... he covers songs of Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, John Denver and many others

Hello again, so on the 13th of August we sadly had to disembark the Jade and make our way home to sunny England :(. Luckily, we had a very late flight and had the whole day in Venice- yay!

(Flashback to the evening before). On the evening of the 12th, we were given a newsletter telling us it was almost time for us to go. There was a sheet that had the different coloured luggage tags you could get. As we were doing Venice on our own, we wanted the latest disembarkation time that we could get, so we headed to the Atrium and collected the latest tags that were available. Gray 2 was already taken, so we made do with Gray 1 tags. (Note: there is no easy walk off in Venice) We packed our bags, and left them outside our room at 11pm as instructed.

(Flash-forward to the 13th) We had to be out of our room by 9am, so we were at breakfast at 7:30. Of course, everyone looked pretty miserable and no one wanted to leave! We had an enjoyable breakfast at the Garden Cafe Buffet, and then we went back to the room to gather our things. Our room steward kindly let us stay in our rooms until 9:15am,as he was still cleaning the room next door. We were out by 9:15am and decided to go to our favourite spot (the great outdoors) to wait for our luggage colour to be called. We had some drinks, and I grabbed a chocolate milk carton to leave in my backpack for later.

At 10am, our colour was called, and we made our way to the exit. It was very sad leaving the Jade, but the crew tried to keep up the spirits by having our favourite 'washy washy' staff send us off! It was very easy to find our bags in the terminal, and then we were off to Venice!

In the terminal exit, there is a company offering luggage storage, and luggage transportation to the airport. My dad wanted to leave our bags here, but I was adamant that there was a bag service in Venice, so I had to drag him away. We walked from our Terminal (no 117) to the people mover, which was a short and easy 5-10 minute walk, and joined the queue for the People mover. The people mover is a monorail that links the cruise terminal with the Piazzale Roma Square in Venice and is a cheap and convient way to get into Venice at just 1.50 euros per person each way. The queue looked horrendous, but we didn't wait longer than 15 minutes to get our tickets. Having said that, the queue is unorganised and people were pushing in the queue, so be aware of that. Also, try to bring correct change as there was a man who only had a 20 euro note and he held up the queue! Alternatively, if you do not want to get the people mover, you can get the water bus, but it is more expensive and takes longer.

After buying our tickets, we hopped on the people mover and were in Venice in less than 5 minutes. Once in the Piazzale Roma square, we went to find a bag storage space. There are two places that you can drop your bags off- one to the left of the people mover exit, and one to the right. We chose the one on the right, because it looked newer and more reliable, but either would be fine. It was just 5 euros per suitcase until the closing time which I think was at 9pm. It was quick and easy to drop our bags off.

After dropping our bags off, we headed into Venice! Before I left home, I downloaded an app on my phone that had a map of Venice without using up my data. The app is called 'MAPS.ME' and is very similar to google maps and I recommend that you download the Venice map as it was very useful! We made our way to the Rialto Bridge and then stopped off at a McDonald's for a quick bite. We then headed to St. Marks Square. There are lots of Gondaliers offering rides at about 90 euros but we opted to travel around Venice by foot. We wanted to grab dinner in St. Marks Square but the prices were RIDICULOUS. A glass of coca cola or a cup of coffee would easily cost you 10 euros, and we saw a sandwich priced at 20 euros . Not wanted to pay these ridiculous prices, we ventured further away from the square on the hunt for a good dinner. A couple hours later, we eventually found a little restaurant in a quieter area of Venice. The food here was delicious and reasonably priced, but unfortunately I cannot remember the name of this restaurant!

We mostly spent the day getting lost in Venice and having unforgivable amounts of Gelato! Gelato in Venice is only about 2 euros a scoop, even in the touristy areas. At about 5:30pm we went back to the Piazzale Roma square, collected our suitcases, and went to buy bus tickets to the Airport. There is a counter in the square that sells all different sorts of public transport tickets, but we just wanted 4 one way tickets to the airport. It was 8 euros per person. We hopped on the 18:10 bus and were at Marco polo airport by 6:30pm.

At the airport, we had to wait for the British Airways counter to open at 6:45pm (3 hours before flight departure). We didn't mind, but we were jealous at the other airlines who were open all the time! After checking in our bags, we headed to security. The security at Venice airport is virtually non- existent. I mean, it exists but it is so bad. Remember that carton of chocolate milk I placed into my backpack? I forgot about it and managed to sneak it onto my flight, even though it was well above 100ml! Very worrying that this happened without security even batting an eye!

Nothing much happened after that. We waited around in the airport for a while which was quite boring, and were on our flight back home to gatwick airport. Overall, we had a fabulous time on the Jade and in Venice and we will definitely be back! If you have any questions i'll happily answer them for you!

Hello again we unfortunately didn't see Roberto and Dorota on the Jade. No RJ Red either but there was a man named Willian who sang and played the guitar each night in the Atrium! I hope you have a wonderful time on the Jade and a great holiday!

Beverly, Do you know if the I Concierge app working on the Jade yet?

Hiya we weren't aware of it when we were on the Jade, but I just researched it and found this on the NCL Website: "Our Norwegian iConcierge app keeps you informed about everything going on, lets you make reservations for Shore Excursions and more on board Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Star and Pride Of America. You can plan your playtime with just one hand — which is great because your other hand will probably be holding an umbrella drink". So I'm assuming it's not available on the Jade yet. Hope this helped :)

Hello all sorry i've not been writing recently, i'm just getting ready to go back to school :(. Here is my overall ship review. Unfortunately, this will be the last of my reviews, but i'll happily answer any questions you may have!

Norwegian Jade Ship Review

Disembarkation and Embarkation

Embarkation on the Jade was not the best we have ever experienced, but Disembarkation was just like any other we have experienced. The embarkation could have been handled differently and quicker, but the Disembarkation was done just fine. I will give it Disembarkation and Embarkation a 3/5 rating because the Embarkation let us down a bit!

Dining

The dining on the ship was very good. We only ate at the complimentary restaurants but they were all lovely so there was no need for the speciality restaurants! I will review each restaurant separately:

Grand Pacific Main Dining room: We ate here twice on our Cruise. The atmosphere was lovely as the lights are dimmed and the colour scheme of the restaurants gives it a grand feeling. There is also a grand piano in the restaurant, but we didn't hear it being played those two nights we ate there possibly because of our early dining times! The food was good with a different menu each day and I recommend the Steak!

Alizar Main Dining room: We ate at the Alizar once on our Cruise. The menu was almost identical to the Grand Pacific menu. We didn't like the Alizar as much as the Grand Pacific because the atmosphere was not as good. The decor was a bit dull and it felt a lot more crowded than the Grand Pacific. The food itself was good though, but not the best.

Jasmine Garden: We ate at the Jasmine Garden twice during our Cruise. We really enjoyed eating here as both the food and atmosphere were lovely. As a British-Born-Chinese, I really enjoyed the Asian food they had to offer. We also tried the sushi, which was excellent at reasonable prices (about US$6 for a roll). Overall, the Jasmine Garden was one of our favourites!

Garden Cafe Buffet: We ate breakfast each day at the Garden Cafe, and dinner also the remaining nights. For breakfast, there are lots of hot and cold choices. They have a variety of pastries, breads and cereals, but also many 'action stations' where you can have a fresh omelette made. There were many pancake and waffles available too. For dinner, they had themed nights such as Indian, Caribbean and Italian. If you don't like the themed food, they also have other staple dinner foods such as salad sections, burger sections, and carving stations. The pizza on board is not the best we have had though. We liked how the Garden Cafe was set out as they had different stations so there were never any long queues or anything. The desserts in the buffet were the best part. They had an abundance of fruits and cakes and soft serve machines! Safe to say that I gained a lot of weight on board! There are also drink machines serving tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juices and ice water. You can opt for a takeaway cup if you would like to take a hot drink away.

Great Outdoors: The great outdoors was our favourite place to hang out as it was tucked behind the Garden Cafe and was always quiet as not many people knew about it! Whenever we had dinner at the Garden Cafe, we would take our food outside to the Great Outdoors to eat as the views were lovely. There is also a small buffet section here, but there was not much choice which was why we took the Garden cafe food out. I recommend that you do the same thing!

Overall, the dining on the ship was very good and I give it a 5/5 rating.

Entertainment and Activities

The Jade had a lot of activities and Entertainment to offer. We attended many gameshows such as 'The perfect couple' game show and the 'deal or no deal' game show. They were all excellent and very entertaining. We watched half of the shows on offer at the Stardust theatre which ranged from okay to very good. I recommend that you watch the 'Elements' show as that was very good, and the '4ever singers' as they were also very good. One of our favourite things about the Jade was the live music. We were told that the Jade was one of the few ships out there that try to keep all their music on board live. This was true to their word as most of the shows in the stardust theatre had the live 'showtime band' playing live music! The music around the ship was excellent and one of our favourite things on board. There are other activities on board worth mentioning such as the Karaoke, trivia shows, sports activities and poolside activities. We were always busy as there was so much to do!

I will give entertainment and activities a 5/5 as we really did enjoy ourselves!

Pool deck

There are only two pools on the Jade (not including the haven pool), and one of the pools is for adults only. The adult pool rule was surprisingly heavily enforced as workers would remove children from the adult pool quite often. There are also four jacuzzis, and a slide. The queue for the slide was always long and the slide itself was not very good as it was really slow! As there are only two pools, the pool deck felt crowded. Although there are a lot of sunbeds available, it still felt crowded. For that reason alone I would give the pool deck a 3/5, but the poolside activities and music brings it up to a 4/5! There was always a line dancing class, or a live band playing beside the pool and it was very enjoyable!

Cabin

Our Cabin was an Inside Family room midship on deck 10. We were in cabin number 10571. The location of our cabin was perfect because we only needed to walk up 2 floors to reach the pool area and buffet! The room itself was tiny though. We made the mistake of only booking one cabin for 4 people and struggled throughout the week. We survived, but would've been better off having two cabins! In our cabin, we had a double bed, a pullman bed, and a pull out bed. This meant that we had three people sleeping side by side, which was awkward. Surprisingly there was a lot of storage space. We had a locked minifridge and a safe. The bathroom was fine and there was enough space. Online, most people complain about the shower space, but I thought it was perfect! It was one of the bigger showers that I have experienced on board and there was plenty of space to move around, but that may just be me because I am a petite girl! Our room steward was excellent and kept our room super clean and tidy so i give him a 5/5, but for our room, it gets a 3/5. However, if we had two rooms i would probably give it a 5/5!

Cleanliness

This is an easy 5/5 as the ship was spotless. Although the Jade is ageing a bit, there were always crew members cleaning away at the ship! In terms of hygiene, there were always hand santising machines around the ship, and our favourite washy washy team!

Shopping

There were lots of things available to buy on the Jade, but they were SO OVERPRICED. In the main shop, they were selling a bar of Cadburys for US$6!!! Here in England you can get it for just £1! There were lots of jewellery to buy, but we didn't buy any. Photos on board were also extremely overpriced at about $15 for one photo. Safe to say we did not buy anything on board! 4/5 for choice on board... 1/5 for prices.

Overall Experience

Looking back at everything, we had a lovely holiday on board the Jade and it was a lovely way to celebrate my Mum's 40th Birthday! The ports we visited were all exceptional and the staff on board were brilliant. We would definitely cruise with Norwegian again and we give the Jade an overall 4.5/5!

That's it for my reviews! Thanks for reading and I hope it helped! I'll happily answer any questions you may have! :)
