funinthesun1964 Posted August 22, 2016 #28 Share Posted August 22, 2016 Wish they would let us pick from a list so we get something we can use yes, that would be nice, but......I would bet that they would just discontinue giving the platinum gift before they would do that. Better yet, why not gift OBC so we could spend it on whatever we want. Apply it to tips, get drinks, or use it in the casino or shops, towards excursions, whatever. lele100 Posted August 22, 2016 Author #29 Share Posted August 22, 2016 You know I agree never be unappreciative about a gift. BUT this really isn't a gift per se it's comes with a price tag you need to be platinum or diamond to get this I see it as a benefit for platinum and diamond guests , same as a benefit for having status with an airline and getting upgrades etc I would like something nicer I agree that is ugly but nothing much we can do I guess Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Would guess they only pay a couple of bucks for most of these gifts so doubt they would give us coupons for drinks or anything like that but would prefer it. a few cups of coffee and dessert from specialty coffee shop would be great
firemanbobswife Posted August 23, 2016 #31 Share Posted August 23, 2016 I can only imagine how hot those things are in the Caribbean. I am going to be pretty disappointed if that is my first Platinum gift. What The Freak were they thinking?!

After about 6 we would just give them to new friends on the cruise.

After about 6 we would just give them to new friends on the cruise. Has to be the price. I would rather have a dozen of the old Carnival pens than that. At least the picture frame is a good idea the first time around. I can see where if you cruise a lot, then yeah, half a dozen of them could be a little much. But these hot, rubber visors? In the Caribbean? Come on. I don't think there is one adult that will think it's a good idea. I can always find a kid to give it to I'm sure. cruiselover5461 Posted August 23, 2016 #34 Share Posted August 23, 2016 There will probably be plenty in the trash. Thought the Tervis were getting too many but probably couldn't give these away.
tlw440 Posted August 23, 2016 #35 Share Posted August 23, 2016 Ugh! When I cruised in May on the Conquest, the Platinum gift was a set of small packing cubes. We got the packing cubes on the Conquest too, we used them on our vacation to Florida and really liked them.
ferfoodle Posted August 23, 2016 #36 Share Posted August 23, 2016 Think outside the box...use them to "reserve" your lounger up on Lido. No loss if they get lost that way.;)

Karnyval Posted August 23, 2016 #42 Share Posted August 23, 2016 It's a gift. You say thank you. Once Carnival gifts it, what you do with it is up to you.

TinyG Posted August 23, 2016 #44 Share Posted August 23, 2016 So after our B2B we would have 4  of these....uh NO. Would rather take them to the kids club and give them away! I'll do anything...pens, journals, backpacks, packing cubes, frames, toiletry bags, thermos, beach bags, or lovely Tervis cups!! Who at the Beards meeting says...let's do Croc... Need to be let go. Micahs Grandad Posted August 23, 2016 #47 Share Posted August 23, 2016 Can you imagine how much they will have to expand the lost and found area? :p They have planned for this. Micahs Grandad Posted August 23, 2016 #48 Share Posted August 23, 2016 It's a gift. You say thank you. Once Carnival gifts it, what you do with it is up to you. I do not equate a gift from a friend to a gift from a very large business. Nice to get a gift but one that will never get used is pointless
CruiseHealing Posted August 23, 2016 #49 Share Posted August 23, 2016 We have Carnival visors and baseball cap. And we don't wear them. So, it's regift time. Here is an idea; since gold card holders feel like they got robbed by not being invited to the Return Cruiser Party, give your Croc Visor to one of them. Then they can walk around the ship and pretend their a Palatinum Member, at the same time they will realize that their not missing much by not reaching the Platinum level. They could also wear the visor and try to crash the Return Cruiser Party.
CruiseHealing Posted August 23, 2016 #50 Share Posted August 23, 2016 .pens, journals, backpacks, packing cubes, frames, toiletry bags, thermos, beach bags, or lovely Tervis cups!! : I like your list. Simple things that are practicable. Nothing over expense, but nice branded merchandise that tells a customer that the company appreciates the loyalty.
