Just an FYI, if you are sailing on this cruise and think you have plenty of time to book a hotel room to stay overnight on the 25th, the answer is DO NOT WAIT.

Saturday, February 25th is the biggest Mardi Gras party this side of New Orleans. Most of the hotels are SOLD OUT and the ones that do have rooms left are sky high prices. :eek:

I just booked two rooms in Texas City, which is about a 15-20 minute drive from the Galveston causeway.

Don't delay, or you will be sleeping in your car!

that whole Mardi Gras, Lenten season, and Easter being different every year... it's strange, I've never understood how it is determined. And since my family never participated in the Lent thing, I really don't get it. but Mardi Gras 2017 in Galveston will have the entire town filled up.

Fortunately, the morning we board, it should be quiet, because all the revelers will be passed out somewhere!
