Need information about the Mediterranean

Hi Schmellody,

My Vote is for the Celebrity's Millennium itinerary from Barcelona to Venice. We made this cruise in May of '04 and found it to be a great cruise ship, and a fantastic itinerary. Mikonis and Santorina are both beautiful Greek Isles and you also get to see Athens. A really pleasant surprise for us was visiting Dubrovnic, a very interesting city and then cruising up the Adriatic Sea to Venice is a wonderful experience. We also enjoyed visiting Pisa, Rome and Pompei in Italy, and in addition a touch of the French Riviera. We made our own round trip flight reservations to Madrid, and flew, one way, Iberia Airline into Barcelona and a no frills European carrier from Venice to Madrid.

If you do your homework pricing air travel you can get some pretty reasonable fares. A word of caution, check the baggage allowances on your flights. Carrying cruise baggage may push the limits on the weight allowances. We used the cruise line transfers in Venice, but a taxi from the Barcelona airport to the cruise terminal is only abou 20 euros. We spent a night in Madrid, after our flight from Venice, in order to catch a morning flight to the US.

You are in for a really great cruise which ever ship you choose, but Celebrity really goes all out to make your cruise memoreable. When we had rain showers in Naples, they had umbrellas for everyone to take ashore. When we tendered into Ville Franch, Mikonis and Satorini they had ice cold lemonade for us while we waited for the tenders. Cold hand towels at the gangway when you retured from your excursions. A sorbet service at the pool on sea days. Champaign served as you board on embarkation day. We really appreciated the little touches Celebrity provides.
