Coco Cay lounge options?

I called the Crown and Anchor desk because my experience has been that they are both knowledgeable and helpful. I explained about the clamshell change in price and drop in amenities. Dixie, the C&A rep I spoke to, said the price has changed but because I previously booked the clamshell at the $59 price, the mats etc. will be included. She said anyone buying the clamshells after the price change at the new, $45 price, will get just the loungers and the clamshell canopy. Hmmm. I'll just check the Shore Excursions Desk when I'm onboard. If there are no mats, water, etc., I'll just ask for a $14 refund. Either way, I'LL BE ON A CRUISE :D

I called them YESTERDAY.. Spoke to Marshall. He told me the opposite, of what you were told..They were no longer offering it as it was offered previously.. He got his supervisor on the line, after confirming this.. They both told me, no more water, mats or fruit, were offered with this excursion. Do as you wish, but, my time is better spent anywhere but guest services/shore excursions..

We just got off Majesty yesterday and were at CocoCay on Tuesday, Sept 6. They have made several changes to the island and it looks like they are still working on more. There was a large section of the beach that was walled off. I looked through the gaps in the wall but couldn't really see what was going on.

Regarding the clamshells, I walked the beach up to where the clamshells used to be and the new fancy 'beds' are located there now. They are really quite nice, but also much more expensive. I did not see the clamshells anywhere.

Unless they were located even further up the beach, but I didn't go that far.

They have also added a new area they are calling "South Beach" that is even further. They offer a tram ride there.

OMG !!! I just had the most frustrating hour on the phone with RCL. I called because we had booked the same lounger package for our 9/26 cruise on the Enchantment. First person I talked to refused to listen to what I was saying and kept telling me she didn't see the excursion on my account..I explained for the 5th time that I was sailing with someone else and due to double charging me originally for the excursion mine was cancelled but the reservation on the other account was the active one. She asked me for that account information and when I supplied it had no problem providing me with full access to someone else's (sic) account. I then explained I just wanted to know what the new excursion package contained as it was not showing the same items at $45 that it showed at $59. She said nothing had changed and when I insisted she wanted to know specifically who told me the package had changed...ARGH !!! She then said they had not been informed of any change to the excursion package and would need to speak to someone else and then proceeded to hang up on me...Really ??????

I then called back..explained again all I wanted to know was if the package had changed and did it only include the chairs and the shell as we had paid for more....All he could do was read to me off the website what the package now includes...(if I can't read how did I know how to contact them in the first place ?) He then refused to pull up the account with the active reservation and insisted that I needed to conference them in to get this settled...Mind you all I wanted to know was had the package changed and was I going to get what I paid for.....after placing us on hold for approximately 20 minutes he came back and said "I spoke with someone and see what you are saying about the change....when you get on board there is a shore....excursion....desk (apparently he assumed I was 3 yrs old) and I would need to speak with them to see if they would honor the original package...if not, I could get a refund...

We were considering getting the beach bed as this is to celebrate both of our birthdays but if I wait until we're on the ship they could be reserved...

So flippin frustrating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much patience you have! Are you sure you were not talking to a trainee?:)

We did had the beach loungers earlier this year in February and it included the 2 mats, water, and fruit.

But was looking at the description of the beach loungers in the cruise planner for our November cruise (planned on getting loungers again) and the description no longer includes the 2 mats, water, and fruit.

Has anyone been recently and know if the mats, water, and fruit are still included with the beach loungers??

We were there last month and yes the mats, water and fruit are included.

We wanted to do the clam shells on our cruise in June. But it was per person and our kids wouldn't have been able to hang out with us (they wouldn't have needed the chairs) w/o us paying for an additional set. So we decided to just use the chairs that were free. We found 4 under some nice shaded trees and we also paid $20 for an umbrella (I think that's how much it was). We were set for the day. It worked for us.

This is the first I've read about an umbrella for $20 and this shade loving mom would love to know more! Were there people walking about the beach renting umbrellas or did you go to a location and rent the umbrella?

I was considering an expensive cabana but an umbrella or two would be better!

Can someone tell me what area or beach that these "Beach Beds" are located? Are they near the tender area and cabanas or are they at the far end? We like to snorkel and use our own equipment. Just wondering if it's far from that area.

From what I've read, they appear to be in the Barefoot Beach area, far from the best snorkeling. The cabanas are close to the best snorkeling.

I am so glad I am reading this thread! Today I noticed my cruise is offering 20% off excursions. I had originally booked 3 of the lounger pairs but when I saw the Bungalow was less expensive and looked nicer - I decided to book it and cancel my loungers. After reading this thread I am even happier!

The Bungalow says it comes with 2 beach matts, water and towels. I hope there is enough water and towels for 5 people :-) I will take towels off the ship....just in case.

I just looked it up. It used to be $150 for the daybeds. Now it's $176 and that includes the 20% off. Yikes!

Just called and cancelled my 2 $59 beach loungers and rebooked 2 $45 beach loungers. "Nothing included" I was told. She said she was sorry, but Royal is always changing things.

I have done the lounge chairs before and to me they are well worth the $45 even without the water, towel and beach matts.

what is the water like in the area of the loungers w/ clamshells? DH & I are considering booking one but I had read the water was too shallow to do anything more than wade. We have beverage packages so we really don't miss the bottled water and we won't miss the fruit because there is a buffet lunch included for everyone on the island. Wondering if there will still be a tram available for transportation to the lounge area?

I can only tell you about the cabanas firsthand. They come with a bottle of champagne, fruit plate, 4 liter bottles of Evian, 2 floating mats, and 2 snorkel set rentals. The bar and bathrooms are nearby and the area is access controlled so it's uncrowded. The upgraded lunch buffet is also very close.

Only downside (to some) that comes to mind is that the beach is not right there. You have to walk out of the cabana area to get into the water. Not far at all. I don't see this as a downside as it keeps the cabana area quieter and more private.

We got invited to join someone once on the cabanas. SUPER HOT!!!! I would never pay that kind of money to have it so hot and have to walk to the beach! We have our favorite place right down from where the band is. Nice breeze, palm trees, great water. And FREEEEEEEEE!!!!. We went to the Suite lunch last time on CocoCay with friends and hubby said he like the regular buffet better. So it is a personal choice. I would never pay for one of those cabanas. I like laying in the sun right on the beach where I can get in the water in 30 seconds.

It is, and if the tide is out, you have no water. You have to walk way out. Also, if not breeze, very hot on that side. During the cooler months, it might be fine. I take a walk every time we are on CocoCay and personally, we never sit on that side. Water is way to shallow and way to hot for us. We like the area below the bandstand. Water is deep enough to float (we take our own mesh floats) and pretty much always a nice breeze. I lay in the sun and hubby lays under a palm tree.
