beaveh Posted September 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) Hi there, I've read many posts before I went on my cruise asking about on-board deals to be had in restaurants / spas etc so I thought I would post my very recent experience. Firstly I'm not an experience X cruiser, this was only my second cruise with them so I'm very basic captains club member. Also it was very different from my last X cruise as I think the passengers were 50% British, the rest split between Americans, Canadians, New-Zealanders and Australians. We were travelling Aqua class ( not done this before). On first night got 40% off Lawn club, other nights got 40% of Murano and booked Murano again with 30% off. They were pushing spa treatments hard and I think the Brits are traditionally very tight with their money ( I know I am lol) So I got a massage at the 'in port' discount but on a sea day, ( i did notice that a hard up-sell was added ) The casino seemed empty most nights ( well up to 10pm didn't check after that ) I didn't see more that 3 or 4 people playing any of the tables ( that's total , not each table!) It was a shame as we quite like watching people at the tables. The only negative was that saving sun loungers by the pool was done at a ridiculous level, I'm ashamed to say I think it was a British thing...maybe years of package holidays with the Germans has taught us that :( The rest was an amazing experience. We loved eating in Blu, Murano was great and we enjoyed amazing food in Sushi on 5. The buffet lived up to expectations with even whole suckling pigs being carved up ..wow! The staff were amazing as always and we had a great time. Edited September 11, 2016 by beaveh
gf42 Posted September 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2016 How were the discounts at the specialty restaurants offered ? How did you find out about the discounts ?
beaveh Posted September 11, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) The first one ( lawn club at 40%) was offered when we got our see passes and were about to board. It would have been 30%, but they gave us 40% as we were aqua. Morano was offered a few days later as we were entering the ocean view cafe. again 40% for aqua ( or 30% ) To be honest most days there were people outside ocean view trying to get you to book..but the choices of times /days available diminished. We did also have messages left on our cabin phone with offers ( for Tuscan Grill and Quisine ) but we didn't go for any of those. In all cases we choose the day we wanted to eat, but only early times were available - but that was fine for us as we like to eat early. We were in Aqua last year for the Silhouette transatlantic.....they offered us 50% off for that first night.....so now the offer is only 40% off? jael001 Posted September 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2016 We had 30% off at the Tuscan Grill which was offered to us by our waiter in the MDR. He asked if we'd considered any of the speciality restaurants and we mentioned thinking about going there and he organised the booking and the discount for us. eastsider57 Posted September 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2016 It sounds like the best thing to do is wait until you get onboard and see what kind of a deal or deals they are willing to give you. We were on the Eclipse this year and they pretty much did the same thing as they always seemed to be outside the Oceanview Café on sea days and at other times.
