BrianI Posted September 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2016 There are no mandatory ones but there are some advisory ones. Book an appointment with you practice nurse at your GP surgery and they will advise based on your itinery. Take your ports of call with you. No one on here can advise you as they have no knowledge of your medical history. Brian

HomelessBear Posted September 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2016 I am going to the Caribbean in January. I am wondering if you need injections before you go. Hi, As others have advised contact your practice / travel nurse or GP for specific advance for you personally. From a personal viewpoint, I've been to the Caribbean a number of times and never needed anything other than the usual tetanus and I also have the flu jab. We were recommended / advised to have the Yellow Fever jab when we did the Panama Canal cruise. When we were in St Maarten last Dec/Jan, I was bitten by "something" that caused quite a reaction on my leg. I found out after we returned that the zika virus was prevalent on the island. I'm not saying it was a mozzie bite, but it was worse than general insect bites I've had before. However I won't be getting pregnant so it shouldn't be an issue. This time I'll take some Avon oil spray with me as that seems to be a good deterrent to being bitten. So just beware when you're to and about. Have a great cruise.
