I was fortunate to receive this offer also. OV cabin foe 288 also had plenty of free sky miles do I had to rake advantage of it. DH says we shouldn't go due to the fact we have one scheduled in November. I said either with you or without you I am going. He caved. With reading all the reviews I may upgrade to JS don't like to be closed in.

Same here... bad timing... we are already cruising for 4, 11, and 7 days in these months plus Jan.

 

I am glad you said something as it was hidden in my junk on my email.

They want to fill every cabin, an empty cabin produces no income. Once they get you on the ship, they gotcha. Drinks, gambling, specialty restaurants, spas, pictures, shopping, that's where they make their money.;)

Got the e-mail. The way I see it RCL was probably expecting sailings during those months would be going to Cuba but the details didn't get worked out. As a result, now they probably have a bunch of cabins to fill on short notice. I'm sure they're thinking offering a freebie to a longtime loyal customer who might spend a few bucks on board is preferable to parking the ship or sailing it partially full.

 

I'm just not a fan of seriously older ships no matter how updated it gets (but ask me again once I've traveled on one of the luxury lines). When the first travelers on Empress griped about the single pool, crowded areas and lack of balcony cabins I had to laugh to myself a bit. The ship was state of the art for 1990. for a to of people the good old days have turned out less good than remembered.

 

When factoring in the price of a cabin on Empress, GETTING to the ship is still the biggest expense for us even if we actually paid for the cabin. Now if we got, say, triple points and paid for the cabin, they'd have my attention. D+ is still pretty far off and there's not much "Book a suite for 2x points" available on Empress.

I called this afternoon and they could not do anything for me for the three cruises we have already booked through a TA. But they were able to get me a discounted up sell to the last JS left on our Dec 3 Serenade sailing!

I got it too. It sucks because I have the Freedom booked on Nov 26th. I called to inquire about changing it but I would lose my deposit so once you factor in losing a day on the cruise and the deposit, it was not worth it for us. Here is a snapshot of the pricing I got (I asked for cheapest room on each cruise):

 

Nov 26 Harmony

Interior: $1619.88 USD for 2

 

Nov 27 Oasis

Interior: $1326.52 USD for 2

 

Nov 27 Allure

Don't know your current discounts. My experience has been, we book the cruise, and then call Club Royale to see if they can give a discount. Sometimes in works, sometimes not. It will change based on your play. We have a cruise Jan 17, it wasn't discounted by Club Royale. We got a call offering perks and free cruises based on recent play, so I asked about our Jan 17 cruise, and they said based on you last cruise, they gave a nice discount. So it seems to be play for pay.
