vwgolf Posted September 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Just booked the Spanish Sunsets cruise on the Spirit departing on 23 October. I'm really looking forward to it, not least because the Spirit was our first ever cruise back in 2005 and we haven't been on it since! We've been on the Celebration a few times but I'm wondering how the Spirit may have changed over 11 years. What can I expect?
Malch_uk Posted September 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2016 They seem to do some work on it every year. Has balcony cabins now!!! Never expected to see that on Spirit.
campolady Posted September 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) Loved Spirit when we went on her for the first time in June. OK she is a bit faded around the edges, but the atmosphere and crew were great, food better than on Dream and the entertainment team the best we have seen on any Thomson ship. Have a wonderful time. Nannyannie Posted September 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2016 We have cruised on Spirit about five times, the last to the Baltic from Harwich about three years ago. All have been good. The crew were the best we have experienced on Thomson. Have a wonderful time.

That sums it up very well, will be a great loss after next year
dorlor Posted September 28, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Just booked the Spanish Sunsets cruise on the Spirit departing on 23 October. I'm really looking forward to it, not least because the Spirit was our first ever cruise back in 2005 and we haven't been on it since! We've been on the Celebration a few times but I'm wondering how the Spirit may have changed over 11 years. What can I expect? We were on the Spirit 6 years ago and wondered the same. We have just spent two glorious weeks on her. We had inside cabin deck 2 midship, it was the same cabin !! It had definitely been refurbed. Lovely and clean. Kept lovely by Lana and Yasser. We only ate in the Compass Rose a couple of times, we preferred the Lido The food there was great. Entertainment was exceptional especially in the Broadway. The new cruise director Ted (Tatty bye Ted we called him! It was his catchphrase !) is so nice. All the staff on the ship are brill. I hope you have a wonderful time. She's an old ship and vibrates somewhat but we love her and are saddened that next year is her last.
