suesue25 Posted September 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Just got back from our 5 night on the Sensation . First things first , Carnival needs to dry dock this ship, don't get me wrong I had an amazing time and the staff were wonderful but the vibe on this ship isn't like others I have been on . There were little to no entertainment on the Lido deck and the quality of the food was bad ! Just to let people know, the dining room still had tablecloths, no chocolate on pillows at turn down (didn't bother me ) no hairdryers in OV room, robes were there and room steward cleaned 2 x daily. OntarioTraveller Posted September 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) We are on the October 24th sailing. We arrive in Grand Turk at 11am with another ship already there. Wondering if there will be any chance of getting a chair! Not sure if this was the case when you were there. How did the tender work on HMC? Did you find the schedule allowed enough time in these ports. Any advise around these 2 ports would be appreciated!! suesue25 Posted September 25, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted September 25, 2016 We were they only ship in Grand turk and there were plenty of chairs available ,shouldn't be an issue with another ship there . You have to watch which ones you sit in cause Independent companies also have chairs there and will try to charge you . If it is possible for you to do I definitely recommend Governor's beach. If you leave the cruise center and make a left there is a guy set up renting golf carts fairly cheap. That's what we did after a couple hours at the main beach. Tender at HMC was running constantly. Dropping off and picking up . No problems there. I don't feel there is enough time at either of the 2 ports , we missed the buffet on HMC, just couldn't leave the beach or cabana !! cruzn buckeye Posted September 25, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Just got back from our 5 night on the Sensation . Just to let people know, the dining room still had tablecloths, no chocolate on pillows at turn down (didn't bother me ) no hairdryers in OV room, robes were there and room steward cleaned 2 x daily. We were on this cruise too! Had a blast at Margaritaville! Got to the beach at Half Moon early enough to enjoy the water, then stopped and got lunch, then back to the beach for more sun and sea! I think if you leave the ship early enough, it does help. However, I have been on other sailings where we were there longer. I agree as far as entertainment goes. I didn't hear any carribean music on embarkation day on the lido, unless I somehow missed it?? I thought it was going to be on all ships by now... As far as food, I thought it was good. Except the Pizza... that was not good... when you picked it up, at least mine anyway, it just flopped over because the crust was paper thin. The staff at the Pizzeria was not real friendly at the times we went there... that doesn't mean all the staff are like that. We had excellent dining and cabin service! Also, the casino staff were very nice. And had good bar service shipwide, including lido. Also had twice daily cleaning in the cabin... And the tablecloths are still there. I enjoyed this because the sweating glasses are not making the table wet with everything sliding around. All in all, it was a good cruise.. I would do it again! OntarioTraveller Posted September 25, 2016 #16 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Thanks for the reports! We will be on the ship in almost 4 weeks. We haven't ever been on a tender. Do you recommend lining up early to get on an early tender? Did you see any shows?
cocacola86 Posted September 25, 2016 #17 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Might be better to purchase fttf Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
cocacola86 Posted September 25, 2016 #18 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Trying to decide a b2b on Sunshine or do the Vista in April 2018 something like the sensation in Oct 2017 as were doing the Magic in April 2017 if we do the b2b it would cut down on airfare Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
OntarioTraveller Posted September 25, 2016 #19 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Another question I forgot to include: Did you use the Serenity Area? I'm hoping to snag some spots there on the sea day! I did think of getting FTTF but it would only be to get the early tender in that one port....not probably worth it given the poor Canadian $. Thanks again. Nice to hear feedback from those who have sailed on Sensation so recently!

Briitini Posted September 25, 2016 #22 Share Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) I was on the same cruise and agree about the entertainment. However, I disagree about the food. Our food was spot on every single night in the dining room. It was SO good!!! Hi_Cees Posted September 25, 2016 #23 Share Posted September 25, 2016 I believe I read the Sensation goes into dry dock Feb 2017. No idea what, if any, upgrades will be made.

OntarioTraveller Posted September 26, 2016 #25 Share Posted September 26, 2016 We are actually going to be in Fort Myers Beach for 2 weeks in a condo, we have friends staying in Florida around the same time and we all decided to tack on this cheap but cheerful cruise as a way to spend time together. We chose this cruise as the dates lined up perfectly with the condo rental. We have sailed the last few years out of San Juan (again adding it onto a longer condo stay) and will again this February.
