Special Check In For Suites

On the dawn categories AE and above are elligible for priority embarkation.

Normally the meeting spot is on the second floor of the terminal. This has changed in the past though. According to shoreguy's recent blog they also have a priority waiting area for Lattitudes as well now.

This priority line will probably at max, save you 20 minutes. Though it affords you the oppurtunity to arrive later at the terminal as long as boarding hasn't started yet.

What about the handicapped/wheelchair? I have always seen these passagers taken care of first. And rightfully so. What do they fall under via, latitudes, suites etc. they may have both plus. Let's not forget it could be anyone of us. Does anyone have info Thanks

In LA last summer, they were checking in handicapped guests in the suites line.

We booked a Cat AB on the Dawn in Feb 04 and when we got to the pier and asked about priority check-in, we were told that it just wasn't going to happen!

I had to do a bit of whining to make it happen! Hope things have changed as we are sailing on the Dawn again this January,

I was in an Owner's Suite in June 2005. I had to talk to at least 3 different NCL people before I was allowed upstairs.

I learned one thing...Look for an older person with an NCL jacket and tell them which category you're in.

Geez...I wish it was a bit easier. I'm glad the first impression didn't affect our cruise. Everything is suddenly OK as soon as you board the Dawn.:)

BarbCT605,

We sailed in September and had the same problem. We did the early checkin and told the girl that we had an Owner's Suite and had priority boarding. She knew nothing about that, but went to ask someone. She came back and told us to take a seat and she would get someone to board us. She came and got us out of the mass of people (should have seen the looks we got) She personally got us our key cards and took us onto the ship before anyone else could board. She had the person who scans your card, get the Concierge to take us to our cabin.

From that moment on, we were treated like KIng & Queen.

We're sailing again in December and this time, we'll take Shoreguy's advice and go upstairs to the VIP/Latitudes waiting area. We saw it last time, but nobody was up there.

Happy Cruising,

Monty

I think it is easier at least last week. There are big blue signs at the stairs on both sides when you enter the pier. They are on stands with clear white letters. Garden Villa, Penthouse, and Latitudes with an arrow to the stars.

Last Feb it was like finding the secret room

We were in Owners Suite:

Sept. '04 - a mess - no separate area for suites/latitudes. In all fairness, Dawn was late arriving and 2 weddings on-board. PA employees were horrible. Couldn't find NCL employees.

May '05 - separate area upstairs for suites/latitudes. Many more visible NCL employees at the pier. Very smooth and fast!

Sept. '05 - same as above. We never even got up the stairs to sit and were escorted on-board.

Has improved greatly:)

Barb, exact same thing happened to us. I had been SO SO SO SO excited to have an AA and no one gave a poop--3 different people I talked to were borderline rude. I finally found the stairway to heaven myself. Once they checked and found out our cabin number, they couldn't have been nicer. It kind of left a bad taste in my mouth, though.

Fortunately I forgot about it almost immediately and as you said, once on the Dawn I was in heaven for 7 days!

I'm glad to hear they have things working a bit smoother now. Not that I will ever have the AA again! :)

I couldn't have said it any better than this!!

Thank goodness for these boards...I knew enough to have my DH sit down with carry-on baggage while I ran around looking for help.

Then, once onboard, upon entering the 5th Avenue suite, AKA #9506, all was right with the world. It doesn't get much better than that!
