UBP Service Charges

Please confirm for me, as guests are responsible for 18% gratuities & service charges up front, I assume this means we are tipping in advance for drink service and there is no need, unless you intend to tip over 18%, to tip again when drinks are served.

Yes, that is true.

Sorry, I did not see Keith's post.

yes that is true...from my experience....bring some $1's....I was on the breakaway 9/18-9/25....tipping with the $1, the bartenders remember faces..and you get your drinks quicker.

so the $90 you pay for the gratuity upfront....you drink 9+ drinks for the week, the UBP pays for itself very quickly.

I wonder if the servers get this money or if it just goes into the big ol' NCL bank account

The money is collected by NCL. Nobody but NCL knows how much money. Let's say $X.

NCL pays money to the servers. Nobody but NCL and the servers know how much money. Let's say $Y.

It would be nice to think that X is less than Y, which means that the servers get all of the service charge, and then some. But because nobody knows what X is, or what Y is, nobody on this forum knows if that is the case.

It would be bad if Y is less than X, which means that NCL is not giving all of the 18% to the servers. But because nobody knows what X is, or what Y is, nobody on this forum knows if that is the case.

Did I mention that nobody on this forum knows how much money NCL collects in service charges, and how much they pay their bar staff?

In case I neglected to point it out earlier, nobody on this forum knows how much money NCL collects in service charges, or how much they pay their bar staff.
