Mary Louise Posted October 13, 2016 Author #29 Share Posted October 13, 2016 Entertainment We did take on some of the entertainment that was offered on the ship. I did like listening to the morning show that Drew and Magic Marvin had each morning. It was quite funny. Speaking of TV, there were not many tv stations that I was interested in. I do like watching news when getting ready in the Morning and evening, but the only news was international CNN. There were no major other networks. We made our reservations before we boarded for all of the major venues. The first was Cats. I do like the fact that they have broadway shows, but Cats is not my favorite. I wish it was Mama Mia or Chicago. The last time we were on the ship it was Hairspray. The show was decent. The aqua show, was good, but every night it was stopped in the middle due to safety reasons. There was always lightening in the area. I must say I have never witnessed such impressive lightening in my entire life. At night, you could see the lightening and it would continually light up the sky. The captain did a great job in staying out of harm's way. We did catch the entire aqua show during the day. Very impressive, reminded me of O that is a show in Vegas. We also went to the ice show and the acrobat show as well . They were good, but not great. The headline comedians were funny. One night they had to move the, to the Opal Theatre as the Comedy Club was too small of a venue. I liked the Jazz club. There was always a live band playing Jazz. We did go to the night club, and had fun there. There was security and you had to show your ship pass in order to go in. There were passengers of all ages there. We also went to the 70's show. It was crowded!!!!!!! It was held on the promenade. People lined up early for the show. Magic Marvin has a great body but I thought he danced a little too much suggestively for a family venue. He actually requested money so passengers were stuffing money in his pants. It was fun. I must say there was something for everyone. The venues were well attended. They also had pictures with Characters. Sherk, Puss in Boots etc. Maybe they are gearing up to compete with Disney when they move to Port Canaveral. The Schooner Bar had the piano player. Overall entertainment was quite good. Sent from my iPad using Forums
cruisegalfl Posted October 13, 2016 #30 Share Posted October 13, 2016 Mary Louise - thanks for the review. Did they have entertainment in the pub?
Mary Louise Posted October 14, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted October 14, 2016 Disembarkation and general observations The lines were long for guest services everyday. When I did go, I usually went early in the AM so there was no line. There was some kind of entertainment in the pub, but I could not tell you who or what is was. Champagne bar was a nice area for a pre dinner cocktail. There also is a very small bar right outside MTD. None of the premium restaurants have a bar that you could go for a drink. Vintages was nice to have wine. We did not get any appetizers there. The Coney Island hot dog does not come with any Coney Island sauce. The hot dog bar did get busy. We did self disembarkation. We wanted to be off early so we could get our rental and start our trek back to Orlando. I thought we would not experience any lines, but it really was one of the worse disembarkations for wait time that I have experienced in years. Long lines, not enough custom agents available. Maybe later in the morning there were more agents but it was not efficient. Once out of the building, the car rental shuttle was there waiting for passengers. We hopped on and was first to get our car rental. I got the same speech about how I needed a sun pass, when I declined then was told how much longer it was going to be to Orlando. We headed back to Orlando without any difficulties. The Oasis is my favorite ship of all of the ships I have been on. There is plenty to do, and it never really felt crowded. It you are a non smoker do not walk on the Port side of the ship by the pool. This was the smoking section and there were plenty of smokers there. I did not go to the Casino. RCCL no longer has a repeaters party in the evening. There was something in the morning, but did not go. I am Emerald status and there was really no big perks for this status. I am close to being diamond and hope that the perks are better. Thank you everyone for your kind words. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
