Vegetarian menu

I do not eat meat but am a pescatarian. I had no problem getting a vegetable meal, non dairy or meatless meal at any location on the ship. They are very accommodating .

My mom is a pescatarian as well and I don't think she'll have a problem either!

There are plenty of veg options on all the buffets and each standard menu in the dining room has at least one veg option every night, but if you ask your server they have an entire Vegetarian menu they will bring you each night. I also found that if we ate in a specialty restaurant one night ( which also all have several veg options) and I missed something that looked good on the previous nights veg menu I could request it for that night. They usually brought me the next nights menu at the dinner table because I always liked to look at it to know what I should be getting my taste buds worked up for.

Be aware that any cheese included in the dishes marked as suitable for vegetarians contains animal rennet (from the lining of a calves stomach) and isn't vegetarian cheese. We found this out last month on the Eclipse and it was confirmed by the head chef. All cheese in the buffet including on the vegetarian pizzas also contains animal rennet. Probably around 75% of the dishes on their menus marked as suitable for vegetarians contain cheese.

The OP stated she is a vegetarian not a vegan. A true vegan will not eat regular cheese and knows this whereas any vegetarian who still eats real cheese follows one of the many variations of a vegetarian diet.

I never responded in the understanding the OP was a vegan. Vegans differ from vegetarians. A vegan won't eat cheese as it contains dairy products and vegans don't eat dairy. However a vegetarian will eat cheese, as long as the cheese doesn't contain meat derivatives. A vegetarian doesn't eat meat or meat derivatives, full stop. There is no variant of a vegetarian. If someone who claims to be vegetarian knowingly eats cheese that's made using extract of a calves stomach lining then they are not a vegetarian, they are just liberally adopting that description. For X to state a dish is vegetarian when it contains an ingredient made with extract of a calves stomach lining then that's misleading and could make people who choose through dietary requirement, religious adherence or moral choice unwittingly eat meat because they relied on X to get their food labelling right. I'm guessing you are not a vegetarian?

I never knew this fact before. I wonder how much cheese that is produced contains animal rennet?? I don't think my mom knows this either as she loves cheese.

My recollection was that my first Celebrity cruise in 2008 they had a varied vegetarian menu. Soon thereafter they stopped and it was just one or sometimes two items on the main menu designated as vegetarian.

I am very cited about this! When did the separate vegetarian menu return?

Here's a good source.

Thanks for posting that list. That only goes to show that there are many truly vegetarian cheeses out there and with the buying power that X/RCI have they only needed to state to their produce buyer that the cheeses must be vegetarian and it would happen, for no extra cost.

In an email response from the MD of Celebrity UK she also stated she didn't realise cheese might not be vegetarian.

My list was from a late 2012 cruise.
