vaitape Posted November 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2005 Getting ready to head out to Tahiti for the Marquesas cruise and am wondering about costs for laundry, specifically husband's kakai slack. Has anyone been on the PG lately and had slacks either laundered and pressed or just pressed? Also wonder the cost to launder simple oxford cloth short sleeved shirts. We are doing 10 days on Tahiti and Moorea pre-cruise as well and are trying to keep our luggage to minimum but will schlepp enough shirts for him for the cruise if the costs for laundering are more than we choose to spend. Thanks for any info regarding this fabulous cruise. We were on the 7 day cruise in 2003 so know a bit about the PG (even have our same stateroom!) plus some folks have filled us in on the excursions which we have appreciated. We are looking forward to having a wonderful time! Again, thanks for all the info from y'all.
dougburns Posted November 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2005 Shirts are $3.50 for laundry or $4.00 for cleaning&pressing. Trousers are $3.00 for pressing or $5.00 for cleaning&pressing. Believe that's still current. Costs on all of the RSSC ships are about the same as your cleaners at home and they do a nice job.
vaitape Posted November 3, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 3, 2005 dougburns, thanks very much! This info will certainly help us out this weekend as we pack and of course, on the trip itself. Those costs are fair! Really getting excited!
hrprof Posted November 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 3, 2005 Maybe we will see you on board - we leave Monday for pre-cruise at Hotel Bora Bora - then on PG for B2B - to Marquesas on 11/19. Bon Voyage

You will love the HBB.it is a very lovely hotel. Have you stayed there before? If you have the chance, visit Cabane Bamboo just down the road and say hi to Eric and Sylvie for us. vaitape Posted November 4, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted November 4, 2005 Wow, you are in for a treat!!! You will find the islands and her people very lovely and welcoming. While in PPT, don't leave out the experience of the roulottes there pier-side, wonderful people- watching (and good food!) as the locals promanade each evening. The PPT folks have really spiffed up the waterfront area in the last 2 years and it is a large part of why we chose to stay on Tahiti for 3 full days next week. Another tip: you will find that the Marche a couple of streets behind the pier into town is well worth a visit too. Nana, vai
hrprof Posted November 4, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 4, 2005 Thanks for the input on PPT. Unfortunately, most of the other comments on the boards re PPT are not particularly positive. We will have shore time between cruises to do some exploring and will definitely follow your advice. Ted
dougburns Posted November 4, 2005 #9 Share Posted November 4, 2005 Someone please say hello to Andreas Noehammer, the Hotel Director, for Lynn and me; also Franco, the Maitre'd. Tell andreas we'll see him on the Mariner in Feb.
vaitape Posted November 5, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted November 5, 2005 Most certainly will do that, dougburns! Thanks for your input re laundry, very helpful. Ted, if you get the chance, be sure to go to the Marche in PPT first thing in the morning on Saturday as I believe it closes early that day. Then you could rent a car and drive around the island if you chose to. We love doing that and find Tahiti Iti particularily lovely. If you take the road up to the lac, you will have a super panorama of Tahiti Nui. Anyway, have a safe flight over. You are going to have a wonderful time!
