We were booked on the tour, described below, through Norwegian that was recently canceled. Does anyone know of a tour company that might offer something similar? I have been searching and haven't found anything. This was the tour I was the most excited about on our entire trip, so I am a bit bummed.

Around the Island Art Tour

DETAILS 3.75 hrs

This tour takes you through St. Maarten's most charming local districts to visit the island's own elite group of talented artists. You’ll drive to Les Jardins d’ Orient Bay and visit the home and studio of Francis Eck. Nature and the sea are his source of inspiration for his powerful colors and harmonious shapes that shift the borders between the abstract and the figurative.

At O'Reilly Hill overlooking Grand Case where you’ll visit the home and studio of Minguet, an artist whose lithographs, oils and watercolors burst forth in explosions of incredible colors. As you proceed to Friar’s Bay you’ll visit the home and studio of Ruby Bute, an artist, poet and storyteller that has been painting for over 50 years. Enjoy the beauty of her artwork and of the vibrant colors she uses to depict the island life and tradition of St. Maarten.

Proceed to Concordia, a suburb of Marigot, where you’ll visit AKinom’s Art Studio, a Creole house nestled in a delightful tropical garden. Jazz rhythms, vibrations, and colors are connected in abstract line and space, punctuated by pallet knife and brushes in oil paintings and mixed media.

Head to the new Causeway Bridge which takes you to the Dutch side and the quaint and oldest fishing village in Simpson Bay. Visit the home and studio of Mounette Radot. Mounette at one time was a featured model and the face a famous cosmetic company who turned into an artist at her 40 years of age and has never stopped. The natural beauty and culture of the island features prominently in her work with floral print dresses exploding with colors.

Not sure what the price per person was for your tour or how many in your party. You could try Joyce Prince tours and see if the price is similar. She lets you decide what you want to do for the day so if her price is similar to what your party was going to pay I know she does have the option to visit some artists studios and meet the artists. Google her and ask. She is very responsive. And, her tours are great.

We contacted Joyce, and she was VERY responsive and kind. We could have done this tour as a private tour for $300. We would probably have ended up doing this, but we also contacted Seagrape tours and they are going to take us on this tour and are planning to add it to their regular offerings, if all goes well.
