My DH and I would like to visit the Jazz Si Club on Carrer de Requescens, 2. It is about a 20 minute walk from the cruise port. This will be at night. Would it be safe to walk to the jazz club do you think. We would like to take a taxi back to the ship afterwards. Will we be able to find a taxi close to the club or if we saw one drive past (with no passengers) if we wave, would the driver stop. Alot of questions and thank you for all of your help.

Night?... if the show finishes at say 10ish, that's not "night" -as you probably understand it back home. Over here shops close between 8:30 and 9 (shopping malls at 10pm) and restaurants will start getting their customers between 9 and 10, later too if on Fri or Sat. This is to say you won't be 'on your own', when you exit the club. Furthermore, that particular area is busy all the time every day until late hours. Having said that, El Raval neighbourhood can turn a bit seedy when shops are closed, so it's best to avoid empty small back-alleys, etc. -not that it's dangerous per se, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Other than that, basic safety precautions, as you would in any other big city, are wise to take.

Just walk to Ronda Sant Pau and you're bound to find plenty of taxis. Remember to wave only at taxis with the green pilot on the roof "on", which means they're available. Taxis are legally bound to pick up customers if they're on duty and they can't refuse any fare within the city limits. Btw, I'll say it again... Barcelona taxis are always painted black and yellow, regardless of the company.
