Maasdam Internet

What can I expect for internet speed on the Maasdam? Has their system been recently upgraded? I will be on a transpacific cruise this January and unfortunately will need to have internet access for some business purposes. What type of unlimited packages do they typically offer?

 

I am currently on the Celebrity Reflection and their new system has been excellent.

HAL currently doesn't offer an unlimited plan. The speed isn't high speed and isn't dial up. Somewhere in between depending on time of day and numbers of users. Speed usually best during the dinner times . Morning is slow due to admin fuctions using up the bandwidth.

Facetime , video conferencing doesn't work very well or at all. Some programs are blocked from the system.

Agreed.... if I wanted speed on the Amsterdam last month.... I needed to use it a midnight on a Coastal trip.

Thanks for the responses. I guess it may be a challenging 39 days from an internet point of view. Does anyone know if Skype will work or is it blocked? Hopefully Holland America will soon start catching up in technology as I believe it would help attract a much larger demographic. Unfortunately, in this day and age, many people cannot disconnect from the rest of the world.

Skype and Facetime are the ones usually blocked. You probably can expect any programs that use video as part of the communications will probably be blocked.
