Sorry, jumped the gun on my post. Looks like it's a 3 nights / 4 days, round-trip cruise instead of the 7 day it's been doing.

A group called "It Works!" chartered the ship. There was a regular sailing, but they bumped all the passengers.

OK, so this may explain why there is a Breakaway Plus class ship at Port of Miami right now but there are no ships on the schedule for that port today.

 

It's too far away for me to see any marking or signage. At first, I thought it might be Bliss or Joy getting their hulls painted in Miami but it's way too early for either of them. So it must be Escape.

Yep. My Marine Traffic alert put them back in Port Miami this morning. I think there's another short charter leaving tonight or tomorrow. Back by Saturday for the next regular sailing.

What do you mean they "bumped" the passengers?

It means they cancelled the cruise for all those not booked thru the IT Works program.

Everyone booked, including myself, were bumped off. Some compensation was offered by NCL.

 

Caveat here: If you hear rumor of your cruise being cancelled, wait until they bump you. I rebooked a day early and was denied any compensation.

Depends on the cruise line's policy. I think if a ship is selling well, and the sail date is close, they wouldn't do a charter. It was a bit out, and the ship wasn't too sold when they cancelled the date. In theory, they could cancel right up to sail time. They would face an awful financial loss though.

On Thursday in Nassau we saw Escape come into port around 11:00 am or so, stayed for a few hours, and pulled out again. Didn't see anyone on the balconies, didn't see anyone debark...thought it was a ghost ship! :D
