Rare mduffy1834 Posted November 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Just submitted my review of our 8 night cruise on the Conquest (over Halloween and my birthday). If any one has any questions I may be able to answer, just let me know. We did several shows, had the Cheers program, went to the Steakhouse (twice) and the Chef's Table, visited several bars (loved the Alchemy), tried my hand in the casino (at least once a day), had early dinner (6pm) for the first time ever, have all the Fun Times (been 2 years since we were last on Carnival - not impressed with the size of the Fun Times), so anything you want to know, just ask. She is a very tired ship - while clean, she needs some loving. Décor was nice - loved the paintings throughout. Crew was always pleasant and helpful, but they are all overworked, from our dining room staff (2 people in charge of about 50 people if everyone showed up) to our stateroom attendants, who seemed to always be around. They had so many rooms to care for - never a break. Great cruise, as usual.

Jenny in TX Posted November 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Glad you enjoyed your cruise! We will be boarding the Conquest this coming Saturday for an 8 day cruise and are looking forward to it. We have sailed the Conquest twice before when she was docked in Galveston. elklemi Posted November 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Will be on her in January and wonder if they have the steel drum duo still on the Lido deck?
kittysnme Posted November 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2016 I was on the same cruise as the OP. steel drums are on the Lido deck. I think the did a great job of rotating the different styles and types of music throughout the day. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare mduffy1834 Posted November 8, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted November 8, 2016 There was a steel drum duo and a solo steel drum player that also played in the casino - he was excellent. 10Jan54 - the Chef's Table was awesome - do not eat anything that day. They did a galley tour with champagne and I think 4 appetizers. Then you watched someone make a small-ish version of the molten lava cake. Then to a private dining room for the rest of the appetizers/main entrees/dessert. The chef did explain that they will be changing the menu within the next couple of months, but I think you will still get a great meal. Only down-side of the Chef's table was that we were assigned on Halloween. Walking through the galley, we got to see all the incredible desserts they made for the main dining room that we did not get to eat.
ksy8384 Posted November 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 15, 2016 I was on your cruise and all I remember for Halloween dessert was a choice of cheesecake or chocolate cake. They were both Halloween themed (decorated) but nothing spectacular. We did the Chef's table later in the cruise and I would do it again, Halloween or no. Rare mduffy1834 Posted November 16, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted November 16, 2016 I'm a little technically challenged, so not sure how to post a copy of the restaurant list. BBQ place is called Ol' Fashioned BBQ - 10 aft. It was open on embarkation at 11:30am until the muster drill. Rest of the days, it was open 12:00pm until 2:30pm, except for La Romana and Aruba, when it stayed open until 3:30pm. Seafood Corner opened at noon on embarkation, closed at muster, then was open from 4:30pm - 10:00pm. Sea days it was open 11:00am - 9:00pm. Grand Turk: 11:00am-9:00pm; La Romana: 1:00pm-10:00pm; Curacao: 11:00am-2:00pm and 4:00pm-11:30pm; Aruba: 1:00pm-10:00pm. Ate twice at the BBQ - embarkation and another sea day when the Lido was crazy busy. Did not try the Seafood Corner, but people were going there. If there is something specific about the restaurants you want to know, just ask
